Greetings TLSers~

Happy New Year! Just to manage expectations a little I thought I'd lay out our plans for the next few weeks. We are still committed to providing a decision to everyone complete today by January 31.

I've spent much of the last week reading files, watching interviews, and reconciling files. The next set of decisions will be completed and emails sent out probably (but no earlier than) next Friday, January 11.

It is a very strange year and I will ask you to have patience with us. I do invite you to contact me with any questions that arise. We are doing our best to be thoughtful and deliberate with decisions.

Warm regards,
Jay Shively

Can you elaborate on why you consider this a strange year?

Curious as well. I'm guessing the significant drop in applicants and/or lower LSAT scores.

TLSers~

Why do I say it is strange year?

Applications are down nationally for the third year in a row. Many schools are seeing 30-40%+ decreases over last year. At Wake our applications were up 30% last year but are down somewhat this year. Because of the volatile nature of the pool it's unclear whether the typical modeling algorithms we use to make offers or award scholarships will provide accurate projections. Therefore, we are working hard to make the right decisions.

Because we brought in a smaller class last year for a variety of reasons it is even more important this year that we strive to achieve a range of institutional goals — class size, credentials, budgetary, diversity and others. This is not so different from other years except that the pool of qualified applicants in the range that historically comprise our class has been shrinking drastically over the last three years perhaps as much as 50 percent since 2009.

This makes for a very "strange" year where we find it difficult to predict outcomes even in light of increased scrutiny and pressure around our institutional goals.

Wow, I knew applications were declining, but I didn't know it was that bad. That sucks for schools, but it must be great news for us applicants

They keep giving you money as long as your grades don't suck...

you really couldn't piece that together?.......

Edit: Since you decided to delete your post, I'll say this here. It took me all of 30 seconds to find Wake Forest School of Law's student handbook on Google in which it states a 73.00 or C is the threshold of good academic standing.

TLSers~

Good academic standing means that you have to be academically eligible to continue in the program - you can't fail out and keep your scholarship.

There will be a facebook group by the end of the week.

My "Under Review" status was updated to 1/10/13 as well. Is this fact sufficient to mean that we will not receive a decision with today's batch? 2012lsat...what do you base your conclusion on?

In as well. Surprising considering I submitted my app on the 3rd. Basically a 1 week turn around.

Scholarship package looking good :D

In via email with $32,000/year scholarship! That was a quick turnaround seeing as how my app didn't go complete until my December lsat score came in.
