Does anyone know if they're still planning to send out RD acceptances or if we've simply entered pseudo waitlist / you're rejected and they can't be bothered to tell you? I'd call the admissions office but that would involve being less than anonymous in my desperate impatience...

So I just got my packet emailed to me. The same thing as some of you here, $30k the first year, $20k the second, $10k the third. I kind of feel like this is cheaping out for them, especially if they raise tuition drastically in the next few years. I know the idea is to get residency too by your 2nd or 3rd years, but judging from the comments on this thread, it seems to be a bit difficult. Thoughts?

Hmm so looking at the last burst posters said they got IRed then the email in the same day...anyone get the email today. As I mentioned before I was ED pushed to RD and got my first in review since January today.

Actually on the last round their status date changed on 4/1 and notifications came out on 4/2.

I received mine in the mail last friday and I know someone who got it the same day. Maybe it just takes longer to get to Seattle? You could call admissions. They weren't annoyed at all when I called.

My undergrad is in Los Angeles, so it should have been here already. Where are you located at?

My admitted student packet arrived yesterday. Scholarship offer was $40K L1, $20K L2 and L3. So now for me it just comes down to whether that's a better offer than $20K per year at GW. Decisions, decisions...

That's the sense I'm getting, especially as an ASU undergrad. But to be honest I have NO IDEA where I want to work after law school. My dad and I just worked through the math, and after cost of living and everything, I probably end up with almost twice as much debt from GW as I would from ASU. And then there's the fact that my girlfriend and my friends, and basically my whole life are here in AZ. It's just... complicated. Next step is to visit GW I suppose.

Definitely visit if you can afford to do so. It sounds like ASU would be a good choice for you, but visiting GW could help seal the deal either way.

Having the ASU undergrad and gf/friends will certainly help you if you choose to hit up ASU. It's always good to have the ties.

While an argument could be made to say that this is an attempt to game the system, I see this as a step in the right direction. Is it an optimal job? Obviously not, as with any school-funded position I'm sure it will be less than desired and the pay will be low. However, the beef that I've been seeing with the current law school model is that it is not producing practice-ready attorneys and that many smaller law firms do not have the resources to train freshly-graduated JDs. This would allow new grads to get some experience under their belt. It also gives them some time to look for further legal employment without having that dreaded time gap on their resume. I see this as being similar to a medical residency where education is put into practice and skills are primed, rather than a scamming technique. Bottom line though is that the people that the school likely employ through this will have likely had no job or a job not involved in legal work. Furthermore, they're going to have to report this as school-funded so it's not as if there is no transparency within this idea.

Depending on how this is carried out, I could see it being a great resource for the community too. Part of the problem in this country right now is that the people who can't afford legal aid also generally don't even have the money to go out and get help from the resources out there to help remedy this situation. If they do this in a way that reaches out to low-income populations by going to their areas and reaching out to them rather than depending on them coming to the office, it could help a good number of people out.

Any sort of discount will help the people this should be targeting. There are way too many people who simply cannot afford a lawyer for issues that they certainly need one with. Maybe this won't be of help to everyone as some may not be able to afford even these rates, but it's a good start in finding a solution to two pressing issues concerning the legal community.
