Re: University of Wisconsin Madison c/o 2016 (2012-2013 Cycle)
I am a UW 3L if anyone has any questions.
I disagree with some of the employment discussion in this thread thus far. UW students do place throughout the Midwest. UW obviously dominates Madison, but it also does very well in Milwaukee. I would not say that Marquette is dominant in Milwaukee. Marquette might do well at the smaller firms, but at the larger firms (Foley, Quarles, G&K, etc.) UW does just as well if not better. UW also does okay in Chicago. There are a number of people in my class that had SA's in Chicago at V20 firms. I also know of people that are 2Ls with Chicago SA's lined up for the upcoming summer. There were also a number of Twin Cities firms that came to OCI the past few years. With that being said, you are in no way confined to WI if you go to UW. If you have ties to NYC and good grades you can get NYC. The same goes for any other city. The firms may not come to OCI, but you can reach out to them. I will admit that if you are median or below things become more difficult. However, that is the case at all non T-14 schools. As the economy continues to improve the job prospects for median and below students will also improve.

Has anyone else been under review for forever? I went under review on 12/27 and haven't heard anything since. Feeling forgotten...

We have the same numbers so hopefully that's a good sign. I went to MN but now that I live in Texas I'm worried the cold will kill me. I'm going to turn into one of those Chinese exchange students with the knee-length North Face jacekts (I'm like a big dude so I might just look like Frankenstein's monster if I do that).ams929 wrote:thanks! 166/3.7 - originally from milwaukee (no new parka necessary). no word on money in the first email - hopefully it will come soon.romanticegotist wrote:To the admitted posters:

In at 162/3.9, complete 11/2. It looks like scholarship info will come later.

Haha let me assure you that it's not just Chinese exchange students wearing those North Faces, it's everyone! Also, I've been in LA for the past 6 years, so I'll be freezing right along with you. And Minnesota is even worse, so I'd say your odds of surviving are pretty good.romanticegotist wrote:We have the same numbers so hopefully that's a good sign. When I tell people in Austin I've walked to class in a -35 wind chill they give me a blank stare and say things like 'that's not even a real number' and 'how are you alive' so I guess we shall see.ams929 wrote:Haha let me assure you that it's not just Chinese exchange students wearing those North Faces, it's everyone! Glad I'm not the only one. 170/3.3 over here. I didn't spend more than 24 hours under review for any other school, so it seems kind of odd how UW does it.michaelm55 wrote:Allyjune, I feal left out too. 164, 3.93 here. No word. Under Review 12/27/12 as well.......

Hey guys! I received my acceptance about a week and a half ago and apart from an acceptance email and status checker I have received no ther information. Is this normal? Should I just wait for my packet to come? The email said that I'd be receiving more information "over the next few days" which is why I'm slightly paranoid at the moment!

Hola,
Thought I'd throw in my numbers - sorry for the ballpark dates...
Applied: Early October
Review: Early November
Accepted: 1/9 - 165/3.59 - In state
Seems like a few acceptances are trickling in every couple days...
Good Luck!

Accepted via e-mail. 162, 3.76, non-URM, submitted 11/3, UR 12/27. Out-of-state. Delighted! Heard great things about Madison!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
