I'm getting conflicting answers on this.

And does anyone know generally when said rankings come out?

My impression was that they won't be ranked until they get full accreditation in 2014.

Does UCI have a status checker? Did anyone receive anything other than the application YES/NO email, or did they just send your acceptance email somewhat 'out of the blue'?

All I received was the YES/NO email in which I have turned in everything as complete.

No status checker, acceptance email just came out of the blue.

Believe I read that from the ABA as well.

I searched last year's thread the other day and it looks like it came via snail mail mid January. Unfortunately that means more waiting for us admits.

I'm a 2012 UCI Law graduate -- if you guys have any questions about the school I'm happy to answer to the extent that I can.

How do you feel the school is perceived by employers?

My personal perspective is that UCI is perceived to be on a similar level as USC and UCLA. I'm working for a large law firm in L.A. and my firm extended offers to multiple UCI students in each of the past 3 summers.

I know that, with my class, there was a lot of curiosity among employers and that likely helped our employment prospects during our 2L OCI. They wanted to know if the students lived up to the hype being generated by the school. OCI seems to have continued to be successful in subsequent years, so I can only assume we didn't disappoint.

I don't know how we compare to the schools I mentioned in terms of percentage of students who take part in OCI, and percentage of OCI participants who are employed. Public interest is a major component of the Irvine community so a lot of the students simply don't want those jobs.

I did not apply for a clerkship, but I believe that most of my classmates who made a serious effort to win a clerkship were successful. Dean Chemerinsky is a tremendous asset in that process, since he is so well connected among judges across the country.

OMG, I was just able to open it! It's so touching. I have to say I'm not even surprised to see this from LSAC. I recently had some sort of problem with that because my transcripts are in French and even if I tried everything to get them to help me, there's nothing to do. They are the most unhelpful organization I've seen. But I'm really glad your friend got into UCI :)

Thanks for all the comments. I relayed this to my friend. For right now, both he and I surveyed finals, yet we are still recouping.

He is an extremely bright bulb, capable of seeing things that others do not. He saw something on one of the finals that still baffles me, but it makes so much sense. Also, in our class, he is known as a techie. Within minutes of having access to UCI Law's e-mail servers, he found a major exploit (the servers were operational for two years beforehand and no one else discovered this exploit). As a "white hatter," he reported the finding in great detail to the appropriate people. It was a amazing exploit!!! Additionally, one night, he was studying in the student lounge when a 3L came running into the lounge and frantically told him of a huge computer problem with a file at the library for a 2L. The library was closing in 10 minutes. He packed his stuff and ran with the 3L to the library to work his computer magic. I was not there, but a 3L told me that he flew through so many computer commands and windows, trying all he can to recover the file. That guy can show me a thing or two about computers...

Anyways, it amazes me on all he had to go through just for a law school to accept him, especially his legal experience in developing Orange County's Self-Help website <http://www.occourts.org/self-help/> and his commitment to Legal Aid Society of Orange County and the Collaborative Courts' Homeless Outreach Program [let alone graduating summa cum laude from UC Berkeley in Legal Studies...]. As he said before, only one other law school accepted out of the 12+ he applied... Also, we joke with him that UC Davis is still interested in him since UCD never sent him a rejection letter (in fact, his status was still labeled "under review" up to the end of October when he no longer had access to the status page).

Lastly, he told me that UCI admissions want him to be involved with the Admitted Students Weekend for this upcoming class, so you will most likely see him if you are there and if time permits ;). Hopefully, you will also hear some things from him because he and another 1L will be creating the Disability Rights Society @ UCI Law (aka ADA:"Anteater Disability Advocates").

I'll be on and off from these boards for the time being.

Sorry about that, I hate that LSAC isn't updated.

Anyways, the numbers are pretty much the same (plus .04 on 25th GPA and minus 1 on 25th LSAT). I stand by my T30 in light of this info. I think they will probably be T25 because of their rockstar faculty and outplacing Y in clerkships. Not to mention this year's graduating class' bar passage rate (skewed because the small class size and full scholly for all first class).

Yup, they are pretty much the same...class size is obviously increasing. I wish I could gauge how large the class was going to be for us.

I am guessing 120-150... It likely depends on the applicant pool. They will try to build the largest class without changing their 25th/75th too much

Edit: Unless it's for the better

Class size is set @ 130 for class of 2016. This comes from Dean Chemerinsky during the monthly "Coffee with the Dean" earlier this year.

Also, I believe that UCI Law will debut in 16-22. Though LSAT/GPA scores are important since you can control them, they are just a factor that equates to 25% of the ranking if I recall correctly. Reputation is another factor, and UCI Law has built up a favorable one with the legal community. I have other theories, but I'll reserve them for now since ultimately it will just lead to a war of speculation where no one can win...

C'mon. You know you can't comment on UCI's prospective ranking without igniting a flame war. On that note, I think you're being just a tad optimistic : )

Maybe.

All I care about is that I'm getting an amazing education by an administration that bends over backwards for its students. Of course it is difficult, if not impossible, to be objective since I'm an active individual at UCI Law.

Yet, I guess it comes down to the amount of faith you have for UCI Law and its program. There are multiple factors, but here are two. First, even if you have the most concrete subject facts/material, such as Civil Procedural with its rules, there is still lot of gray boundaries (a Civ Pro final will show you this ). Additionally, as Professor Christopher Leslie for UCI Law Contracts puts it, "courts get decisions wrong ALL THE TIME!!!" That said, there are multiple moving parts for UCI Law (gray boundaries and mistakes can happen regardless how strong your evidence is). We won't find out the ranking till March 2015, but I have faith in UCI Law.

Anyways, here is the definition of "faith" that I endorse:
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1, ESV)

All I can say is that the program has been amazing, the professors wonderful, and there are plenty of opportunities. I have zero regrets in attending UCI Law. I personally believe that that this law school was designed for me. Lastly, in my previous posts, I told you all about my friend. Here is the truth, I am greatly honored to attend a law school that accepted him!!! UCI Law is different from other law schools, and as such, it is difficult to measure...

But I do agree with you that discussing rankings would lead to flame wars... :D

Received a direct email requesting my Fall 2012 grades. Is this typical?

My Fall 2012 grades (for my graduate degree) are:
A (3 credits), A- (3 credits), and B+ (1 credit, planning seminar... after some disagreement with the advisor)

Should I be worried about the grades?

Current graduate GPA in light of this semester is 3.75 (unchanged from last semester)

Graduate degree GPA is pretty irrelevant so that's odd.
