Work has been pretty slow so I found time to read through last year's thread. Definitely feeling really good about UC Irvine and ASW sounds like it was a blast.

Nope. Obviously will play a big role in my decision, though.

For all that is worth, I submitted my application last year mid-December and they got back to me in mid-January.

Interesting... I'll keep my fingers cross.

Anyways, the Admissions Office will be closed next week and I think they might be back in operation on January 3. So don't fret too much over the holiday.

Lastly, all the best in surviving 12/21/12

Just got a fee waiver from UCI. I already had an interest in the school, but not in living in Orange County suburbia. Any thoughts from people in the area?

I was super bummed I didn't get into USC or UCLA because I wanted more of a city type environment. After my first semester I'm actually really glad I didn't get into either school. Don't get me wrong they are both great law schools and I'm sure I would've been happy at either. As a 1L you're going to be super busy and won't have much free time. In that regard i wouldnt worry a whole lot about the surrounding area unless its a place you just can't stand. Its also been nice being in a place where you don't have to sit in traffic to get groceries or go to the gym. Bottom line, yes Irvine isn't the most happening place but the beach cities in the area are fun and LA and San Diego are an hour away. For me Irvine has been a great place for law school but others might feel differently.

Thanks for the input! Where do most students live? Do they have dorms?

Most students live in graduate housing on campus. There are a number of cheaper, mid range, and expensive options on campus depending on your budget and what amenities you want. There's also tons of apartments and homes for rent in the surrounding area. A few law students live in Newport Beach which is fairly reasonable if you want to live on the beach.
