Would I be able to negotiate a 40k/year with a bunch of similar schollys from a bunch of other ranked schools? (30-60) with totals ranging fr 60k to 96k

getting OC and SD biglaw might be easier at UCI OCI than getting LA/SF.JayJones78 wrote:Anyone here has thoughts about UCI and biglaw in CA? How attainable is it in your opinion?

EDIT: I transmitted 11/11/12... accepted via email 1/9/13.sportsaholic763 wrote:Is it just for me, or is UCI taking a long time this cycle? I applied in November and I have not heard a thing.
I have a 3.5/165, In-State Californian, and I currently attend UCSD. (Non-URM btw)
Should I be super worried, or is the school simply dealing with a small app pool?

Thanks, very much so. Still wondering if the price is justified by the job prospects (unless I can get more money, because even with the 10k its still a lot to stomach for out of state). I know their clerking numbers are good, but I'm wondering if they will stay up or if in 3 years it'll be a different story
Good luck!

nice. that's funny - i am also reading a law prof's book (albeit UCLA law prof's). Good luck, man! (except for DePaul and American, you've blanketed the top 40 in the same way as I - awesome.teiswei wrote:Me too, more than you know. Re: UC Irvine c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
thanks! i feel exactly the same. feel dumb being in the blind re their employment prospects (if anyone has ANY data, please post it), esp. when it comes to OC Biglaw. Clerking is easier to maintain over a 3-year period than Biglaw employment placement because UCI has such accomplished faculty, IMO.sonny wrote:Thanks, very much so. Should I try for more money with 50% at Illinois and 60k at San Diego? Or maybe wait to see if I get some better offers/acceptances?

Do people think UCI is a bit more liberal with scholarships this year than other UC's/public schools because of the lack of a total-class scholly like in years past?sonny wrote:Should I try for more money with 50% at Illinois and 60k at San Diego? Re: UC Irvine c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Unfortunately, this does not tell us much. The two people you showed we're top students. One of the firms mentioned(at least that branch was 50 people). I that firm there was one grad from DePaul, SCU, and Loyola included. Until we have actual employment data it would be hard to determine how effective their placement is. I guess it is nice to see that it is possible to score a nice job in the area thoughJonathk1 wrote:http://www.allenmatkins.com/en/Professi ... raphy.aspx99.9luft wrote:thanks! i feel exactly the same. feel dumb being in the blind re their employment prospects (if anyone has ANY data, please post it), esp. when it comes to OC Biglaw. I am so pumped about this UCI is one of my top choices, especially if I can avoid paying sticker. This is awesome! Accepted via e-mail, more info to come next week they say. Juiced for this, esp since I'm from SoCal.
