Ha! Here's to hoping. I got my acceptance from Hastings on 1/17. I submitted basically the day it came available so I think they may just be going in order? Really hoping that UCI shows me some love though. Congrats!lt_universe wrote:ARGH! I feel you, man. That UC Hastings wait is KILLING me. 3.5, 165, not URM. Hoping for a bit of a discount, though.gitguy wrote:Numbers?sportsaholic763 wrote:Accepted via e-mail, more info to come next week they say. Juiced for this, esp since I'm from SoCal.

Predictions as to what UCI will be ranked in the 2015 rankings? I know the school itself is shooting for T20.

Submitted 1/4 decision 1/29.
Also I am more interested in their employment stats than their initial ranking. I really couldn't venture a guess, but I don't think they will be top 20

Based on numbers, T30 but we will see as the employment numbers start to come out. Regardless, I have high hopes for UCI.mehh wrote:Predictions as to what UCI will be ranked in the 2015 rankings? I know the school itself is shooting for T20.

Yeah. For sure T30. I think they may even break T20. I don't think UCI grads will have a problem finding employment post-graduation. Lots of opportunities from Irvine to LA.

Opportunities may be overstated... I mean, even USC has problems placing students. For 2011 grads, only 64.7% had full-time, JD required positions. I think Irvine will do well and they have strong leadership from Chemerinski but it will take time to break T20. Debut will likely be between 35th and 26th. If it breaks into T20, it will take 5-10 years of graduates performing well.mehh wrote:Yeah. For sure T30. I think they may even break T20. Just got an e-mail detailing Irvine's LRAP. In a nutshell, if you work in a qualifying non-profit/public interest job and make under $60K for the 10 years, full loan repayment. Prorated loan repayment if between $60K and $80K.
Pretty standard, but not bad; I've seen much worse from schools up and down the T14 and T1.

I really wonder when I'll hear from UCI. All I got was a complete email a few weeks ago but since they don't use a checker I have no idea what is going on.

How long has it been taking people to get their official admit packet? I really hope there is some mention of money, it would make my decision to attend much easier.

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Hey there folks, I had coffee with Dean Chem today and got some info for you guys....
1- Employment Statistics are determined 9 months after graduation. For c/o 2012 that is right around now. Dean Chem says the school has not released yet because USNews has not officially released, but.... he said I was free to tell you all that the stats for c/o 2012 are this: 93% of graduates are employed in full time legal positions. Of the unemployed, 1 is on maternity leave, 1 had a medical emergency, and 2 are actually actively looking for employment.
2- Dean Chem also reports that applications are up again. I know for c/o 2015 they were up by 120% and now apparently it is up again. He reports though that traditionally, they get half their applications from 2/15-deadline so I don't know what that means. He also reports that the medians appear to be a bit higher than c/o 2015.
3- He also spoke about the class that will enter in 2014. They will be special snowflakes since their class medians will be the ones considered for the 2015 USNews rankings. He indicated that they are sensitive to this fact and I got the impression that they have something in the works to attract even better candidates for that year's class.
4- About the faux paus with the need based grants, while he admitted that anyone enrolled currently may be screwed as far as that goes, he said that this mistake will not happen again. For each class going forward, the need based grant will always be renewable.
5- Lastly, and quite to my and many other's joy, he announced today that the school has adopted and placed into their permanent budget a bonafide LRAP program! It is now linked on the school's website.
I hope this information helps some of you out in your decision. I have never been a UCI cheerleader but I am pleased with the coffee talk today. Please feel free to PM me or ask here if you have any more questions. I or someone else will do our best to answer them.

This is great! thank so you much for sharing. I like the employment info...wonder how well they did in SoCal Biglaw...I guess we have to wait until March to find out.lrslayer wrote:Hey there folks, I had coffee with Dean Chem today and got some info for you guys....
