No, look at the breakdown of numbers. 204 grads in 2011 and 2012. All the employments numbers remained basically the same EXCEPT that unemployed dropped in 2012 by a lot.
No, that's not unemployment that dropped, it UNDERemployment. These jobs were always there, its just now getting reported.
2011
Employed, BR: 127
Employed, JD ad: 29
Employed, prof pos: 6
Employed, non-prof: 1
Pursuing grad degree: 8
Total unemployed + unknown: 33

2012
Employed, BR: 119 (-8)
Employed, JD ad: 22 (-7)
Employed, prof pos: 11 (+5)
Employed, non-prof: 0 (-1)
Pursuing grad degree: 3 (-5)
Total unemployed + unknown: 8 (-25)
School employed: 41

So where were the 2011 school-employed grads listed? Certainly not under bar required jobs. I believe they were mostly listed under unemployed in 2011. 41-25=16. So that leaves 16 more spots to be filled. 8+7+1? But why would school employed be listed in different categories? Strange.

they didn't have any school funded until class of 2012. so those grads were just unemployed.

Gotcha, that's the explanation I was looking for.

Unfortunately I'll be missing the ASWs, but will be visiting this Thursday/Friday! Anyone have suggestions on what to do, what to see, where to stay, etc.? Input would be much appreciated

Well, it's pretty small. You'll easily see the whole law school in no time. Take a walk around the town, look at the UG campus, maybe check out some housing you're interested in.

That's what I was told. I think that they have no idea what this cycle will bring for them. But, who knows.

I am not the type of guy who can patiently wait for others to drop off to allow me in the door. I have withdrawn from the W&M and Emory waitlists. I need to move on and worry about housing, finances, beer, etc........

Hi, new to the forum, been reading for a long while though. Just been placed on the waitlist for WM.
I see a lot of people on here saying they've withdrawn from the waitlist, one guy saying he couldn't wait around or what not. I appreciate that if you're not planning on attending a school, then go ahead and withdraw. But I dont get it, how is being on a waitlist actually equal to 'waiting around'. I'm sure everyone has other options, so why not just stay on a waitlist as well, just to see what happens? My question is, what actual benefit would you gain from withdrawing? It seems that, by staying on a waitlist, you'd have nothing to lose, and only possibly to gain. Unless i'm missing something?

You're not guaranteed a spot off the WL - you're burning time by "waiting around" to see if enough spots open up for you to get in. At this point, it's probably not a huge deal, but once June and July roll around, you'll need to start looking for an apartment and making other plans that revolve around where you'll live. You can't do that effectively if you're still on the WL in Williamsburg but in at schools in Richmond and Arlington. Other schools will also require a deposit, so if you don't pay those because you're WL'ed at William & Mary, and then a spot doesn't open up for you, you're waiting until next cycle. If you do pay the other deposits and then get in at W&M, you lose the deposits. The only way you don't directly lose time or money is if you deposit at other schools and then don't get into W&M, W&M presumably being the better school because you care enough to ride out the WL, so you're stuck at a school that'll give you fewer options down the road.

Obviously there are exceptions, but plan for the worst if you're going to ride the WL - you'll lose your other deposits and they'll call you a week before school starts asking if you can make it.

I'm signed up for a 9:00 tour on Friday, and I'm sitting in on a class afterwards.

5/1 I believe, but you had to notify them of your status by 4/1.

Cool. I'm just trying to guesstimate when the WL movement will begin.
Yeah I guess that's the flipside to the deposit date. The later date means it's nicer for people who are in and trying to decide, but it sucks for WL. GL
