To those recently accepted, are any of you part-time applicants?

I also have 2 decision letter mailed dates (12/19 and 12/20), but I also have a scholarship letter mailed date (12/20), so I would check again and see if they updated it for you.Jredelman15 wrote:I have two decision letter mailed dates on my status checker. Nice, congrats! UH is finally opening up the coffers, that's a pretty good price for a solid school.helpplease wrote:Received scholarship information in the mail today. 15,000 per year=50% scholarship!!! I am ECSTATIC!! This is going to be so hard to turn down--I've practically decided that I will be part of the incoming class of 2016!
Btw, my numbers were just at/slightly above the median. ~161, ~3.5, but I worked extremely hard on my personal statement, diversity statement and had an excellent resume. Numbers really don't mean everything.
Good luck everyone
Do you think it's because they have less applicants this year or is it the quality of applications that have gone down? I actually retook my LSAT in December and my score comes back next week. I don't think I did much better than before, but I am horrible at gauging my performance on that stupid test, so it is a possibility. Do you think if I got a 164/165 I could bargain for anymore money?BigZuck wrote:Nice, congrats! I feel legitimately bad for last year's class. When I first applied last year I had basically the same LSAT and significantly higher GPA and got nothing. Then retook and got 5+ points higher and then they offered me the same scholarship you just got. I hope this cycle keeps getting weird for all our sakes.
I'm sure the number/quality of the applicants has gone down this year like it has at every school. But in the past their scholarship criteria was bizarre IMO. To get a scholarship that made sense to attend a school of UH's caliber (about a half ride sounds right) your numbers had to be way above and beyond, to the point of being UT numbers. But if you have UT numbers then why would you attend UH if all they are offering you is a half ride? If what has happened to you is representative then their new scholarship strategy makes more sense, at least to me.helpplease wrote:Do you think it's because they have less applicants this year or is it the quality of applications that have gone down? Yeah, I understand what you're saying but I don't think the former was a strategy. I'm pretty sure it was a matter of how much they could afford to give rather than how much they wanted to. If the scholarship they gave me is representative across the board, this will undoubtedly attract much better candidates and increase their ranking in the years to come.BigZuck wrote:I'm sure the number/quality of the applicants has gone down this year like it has at every school. Look on your status checker, it has the address they should have mailed it to. When were you accepted? I was accepted on 12/18 and my checker shows they mailed my letters on the 20th and I still haven't gotten them. Some schools don't actually mail their letters on the date it says they were.mg7 wrote:Still haven't received my acceptance/scholarship letters.. Getting nervous it got sent to my old address.. And congrats on the half ride helpplease!
Not a current student but they talked about that clinic when I visited last year. Maybe call and ask?lnh819 wrote:I'm getting excited to get my scholarship offer now - I'm out of town so I might have it sitting in my box when I get home on Sunday. I have numbers similar to the previous poster who got a half-ride. A half-ride to UH vs. my 2/3rds ride to Texas Tech would actually force me to make a real choice. Congrats to everybody else who is getting accepted and receiving their scholarship offers!
To the poster who is a current UH student - do they have a clinic that deals with some sort of Family Law? I'm thinking about going into that type of law and can't find a clinic related to that on the UH Law website. However, they claimed to have one when I toured back in March so I'm a little confused right now.
Congrats! What are your numbers?TheRedBlueBerry wrote:I got my letter today. In with 10K a year. I may try to use other offers to see if they will give me a little more. Congrats to all who got in!!
