Is Notre Dame known for yp? Got rejected with a LSAT well above median, GPA at median, URM, and some decent softs. Kind of surprised, applied to a few schools outside of the t-14 hoping for a full ride because I want to go into government work. Anyone else get rejected with numbers that would be thought of as an auto admit?

I have no clue if this has anything to do with it, but I did put atheist as religion.

No idea about their yp preferences, but I put non-religious on my app and was admitted so I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Depends on what you mean by fine? Declining LSATs and rising in GPA tend to signal the opposite of 'fine' for a law school's ontological health. But that's what's happening with ND's odd yield protection game.

Of course, there's no clear evidence that their YP is the cause of the changes in numbers. But it's satisfying to think that it is :D

I think this is going to backfire in their faces. It seems like they're waitlisting a LOT of people that have good numbers for them, in the hopes that many of these auto-admits they've let in will matriculate. In the meantime, the people they're waitlisting are getting accepted by schools who aren't playing this game, and by the time ND starts pulling from their waitlist (late April), many of those people will already have seat deposits down at other schools.
TITCR, I was really interested in NDU but other schools have been much more welcoming and it's swaying my interest.
Exactly.

Every school has declining LSATs, there is nothing that we can do about this. Finally, less people are applying to law school. The pool of 168+ people has declined, and thus NDLS is getting fewer of them as well. My guess is that our median will still be 166, but if it drops to 165, that is not going to do anything to the school's reputation. Though admissions is obviously a numbers game, they do their best to identify who wants to be here and who doesn't. Don't take it personally if you are above medians and you didn't get in.

Got my letter today in the mail. Waitlisted. 3.67/165 Non-URM. Oh well.

Not sure what their strategy is as others have alluded to in the previous page. I am just below one median and just above the other. Others in this forum that were just waitlisted as well have even better numbers than I do and definitely should have been admitted. Maybe they think getting into the national championship game and getting blown out by Bama will make the people they've admitted with high numbers actually go there instead of a lower T-14 school  .

Waitlisted, surprisingly. A little below both medians.

Throw me in with the other waitlisted applicants! 167/3.92

I was always interested in Notre Dame as an undergrad and would love to go, but I think with this decision I'll be looking elsewhere.

This thread is encouraging. I was waitlisted with 169/3.74, and immediately went through my application to see if I had a typo in my personal statement. Really confused.

Also weightlisted with a 166/3.3

I'm not too bummed and it looks like I'm in good company! Didn't write a Why ND essay tho.

Current 1L here if you have questions. Also those of you pondering the possible yp practices should know ND for better or worse places a ton of weight on personality. If you don't write a why ND it's crazy unlikely you will get in and once you hit the medians it is more beneficial to be an interesting person that have extra gpa or LSAT points. It's not YP it's just a different way to pick people.

I was W/Led with above average GPA and LSAT. I was pretty surprised, as I also thought I'd be autoadmit. I think it might have something with not writing the "Why ND" essay.

My decision was mailed today. I'm not expecting too much since I didn't write a "Why ND." 169/3.55

Wow, those why ND essays seem to be clinchers.

EDIT: I'm sorry if that sounds snide. I'm not trying to be a queen.
