YES. How am I still on CR 2 with a 172 and a 3.85 will somebody explain this to me?

Perhaps they suppose you're going elsewhere and are waiting to see if you'll withdraw your application before the fact because, if you don't, they might sense desperation and try to get you for less $$...

Your numbers are really high. One would think that they would at least wait list you in a timely fashion to see if you are interested. Or offer you the Rothman (some sort of full boat offer) But the silence is annoying. One of my friends had a 174 and they just wait listed him at all the schools outside the top 6 cause they figured he wouldn't go.

yeah that's exactly what's going on. They assume he or she will go to a higher ranked school. IF you called them and told them you would committ on the spot(assuming they offfered reasonable money) they would probably accept her/him without hesitation.

Things are rather quiet. Last friday was the day I believe most of the WL responses were due. Figured they would've let more in yesterday. You think they were able to secure the 167s?

They got at least 1.

Is USC pretty lenient on extending deposit deadlines? They gave me 3 business days to decide and it might be tough to gather up the deposit money for me.

I don't know. I'm a 167 and I'm still on CR2. Must have pissed off admissions somehow.

I think you should be able to work something out... The money is just a statement of your intention to enroll so, if you intend to enroll, there should be some wiggle room. Worst case scenario, you're just withholding some of the funds paying your first semester's tuition...

Let's take it one step further, do you think they'd extend my deadline so I have more time to decide?

That I doubt. They'll probably want something from you as compensation because, by asking for a deadline extension, you're also putting in jeopardy (though the degree to which is debatable) the likelihood that their next group of wait list acceptances will accept the offer of admission.

Especially us 166/3.6x- we are so solid with our numbers but we just don't split a median. I envy the 3.7/165s and especially the 167/3.2xs

haha seriously. Thank god for that retake, I wasn't thrilled at a 1 point increase when I first got it. But it's turning out to be a big deal.

It seriously kills me. It's like applying to undergrad all over again where it is disadvantageous to be a good all-around candidate, they prefer more one-dimensional applicants.

I have a hard time explaining how my buddy who is very smart but lazy as hell and had a GPA over .6 below mine is going to a higher ranked school. I say it's the LSAT and that he got a couple more questions right and I'm always either met with some form of disbelief

Yes, the LSAT is probably a better indicator of how one could manage law school in terms of thought process, but if you're scoring in the mid to high 160's anyway, you obviously can do the logical thinking and analysis that is required. Anybody can miss a relatively small number of questions on a test simply because it is nerve-racking as hell, you're under a time crunch and it's your first time taking it. I was consistently scoring between 168 and 173 on my practice tests the two weeks preceding the October LSAT but got absolutely no sleep the night before and missed a few more than normal as a result. To think that 1/100th of a single test would have so much bearing on one's future is really disheartening. I thought I paid my dues to set myself up well by graduating a year early and maintaining an A- average (the best GPA I've really ever had) and you're telling me that, in all likelihood, choosing the wrong one between "B" or "C" on that logical reasoning question as time expired is going to be the determining factor in whether I get into USC at all, or, if I do, between paying $90,000 in tuition or $150,000? F*** that!
