So true- there is a chance though. Maybe these 167s won't accept. It's just the size of the class that makes me think usc will pull it off

This is me with UCLA- waitlisted with 167..if only i got 168. How about you convince UCLA to accept me of their WL and I'll WD from USC and tell them to give you my spot...!

its honestly pathetic that 1 point can make that much of a difference. I hate that these schools tout "holistic reviews" when there is so much data to prove otherwise. I mean I can understand how a 2 point differential could/should make a difference, but 1 more fucking question on the LSAT?

but I hope you're right Dream Weave, considering the Fin Aid website says that only 50% of the incoming class is on some form of merit aid and almost all the pre-deadline acceptances have had some merit package attached, even for those with 3.6-7/167. Hopefully us 166's can become a part of the half of the class that finances the merit-awards for the other half.

edit: spelling

if you had a 3.8+++ a 166 would have been just fine.

The sad thing is that not all 3.8s are equal. And going back to the holistic argument, I understand the 167 over the 166, but a 3.8 done half in community college is not impressive and yet it's seen better than a 3.6 from a top school. No one can truly think a 3.8 from a satellite school is difficult to get- you only need to show up and there is almost 0 competition. I took two classes at community college during the summer and it was criminal how easy the As were to get.

When I received my merit scholarship offer, they stated that my scholarship was possible through the generous donation of its alumni. With that said, as a contingency of my scholarship offer, I am required to write a letter of appreciation to my scholarship donator(s) if requested. This of course assumes the premise that the university can specifically match which student received money from which donator. Regardless, that was the message that was conveyed to me when I received merit $$.

With that said, I don't think that the lower percentile students of the incoming class are necessarily financing the merit-awards for the other half. If I'm missing something here, please let me know.

ahahah you dont know much about law school financing. low GPA/LSAT go at STICKER to pay for the merits..alumni donations are a small part of financing.

Yes, I don't know much about law school financing. That's why I asked.
I'm sure law schools do not publicize what you say is a fact. Where can I find that information?

I don't know what the best source is but it's very simple. I summed it all up when I said "GPA/LSAT go at STICKER to pay for the merits". There is not much more to it. I think Stanford, Harvard and Yale are the only schools that do not practice this.

For those of you that got pulled off the waitlist, how long did they give you to respond/deposit before the offer expires?

I wouldn't expect them to release anymore until after Friday (the deposit deadline for these new WL admits). It's strange that there appears to be some 167s still on the WL, so I'd expect if any more offers are made they will go to these 167s on Monday..

What FB page are you referring to? We have our 2016 group with about 70-80 members right now.

Maybe they are reviewing the files of the people they gave fee waivers to last because we never paid to have our applications read. Perhaps USC gave first priority to the people who actually forked up the cash to apply?
