I'm in the same boat with no ties in LA. The housing things is kind of confusing since I haven't even visited yet. I did notice that USC grad housing is less expensive than UCLA's.
What's the problem with very few students living there? Is it an issue of meeting people you're concerned about?

Once you visit UCLA and USC, you'll understand the "feel" of the areas a bit better. I wouldn't exactly feel safe living at Terrace, whereas I definitely would in Weyburn.

Housing in general will be much cheaper for USC (if you plan on living near campus). UCLA is in one of the most expensive parts of the city, without many nearby options that are cheaper (Santa Monica=expensive, West Hollywood=expensive, Westwood=expensive, Beverly Hills and Bel Air=get outta here), and USC is in sketch-ville. Neighborhoods near UCLA are much more desirable (and awesome), but plan an perhaps sharing a room?

I can't remember if someone already posted something to the same effect, but I called today and they are "trying to get decisions out by end of April to mid-May."

I called earlier and got the same thing. How can it possibly take them this long, honestly? By mid-May, they will have had my application for 7 MONTHS.

well most people will have their decisions way before. it's the waitlist people that will have to wait longer.

I guess they don't have to negotiate scholarships because by then you'd have to commit to another school...

Not to sound like a princess but I will NEVER share a room in law school. I can barely share a house with people right now (undergrad) without it interfering with my studying and general well-being
and these are my good friends. In my opinion extra debt is worth my alone time, space, and subsequent better grades. But the housing cost and availability is definitely a factor in my decision, thanks for the info!
Also, does anyone know much about USC's curve? Since the class size is small, how does this compare to other schools?
Good luck to everyone still waiting! If I'm posting all this in the wrong thread and making you all hate me go ahead and tell me to shoo

Just checked and have a 3/21 final review date- does anyone know when I can expect a decision? Thoughts on usc's median having to drop to 166 or mid 3.6s- just barely under for both of their current medians.

It's Friday, I bet you will hear something today. I heard of many people being in Final Review for just a couple of hours before hearing their decision (including me). I also think that if you are just barely below both medians you will have a great chance this cycle. I hope you get in but I also hope they keep their medians up!

When did you go into CR2? Based on people who heard last week, I'm expecting to go into FR today, but since it's Spring Break, who knows??

I also am not from the LA area from the Midwest. I toured both campuses a couple of weeks ago. I thought both were great. I liked USC's Personal touch. hated the Law building and Library. I know it is petty but i spend a lot of UG in the libary. so it is important to me. The housing thing is a little concerning, but I don't think a overly big deal.
I would not worry about the USC area north of campus. they have some new apt complexes going up just north and east of campus, about 1/4 mile. A couple of law students told me they live close to downtowna and take Public transportation. the only thing would be late at night traveling alone if your a girl.
But if you are concerned get a Conceil carry permit. and 40 cal S&W...you should be good to go! make sure you get Hollow Point ammo!! My older sis went to the USAFA and we all could shoot before we were weened. LOL

I had been sitting sitting in cr 2 since mid January. My final review date shows 3/21 but I just noticed it today. Are all decisions through email or are rejections through snail mail?

Stats?
162 / 3.7 (3.81); non-URM; strong personal statements; started a charity . . . USC is my #1. I am so nervous.

I'm curious as to whether the CR1 > FR applicants is a symptom of hurried admissions with the deadline approaching or if it signifies something (either positive or negative)
Then again I'm still sitting on CR1 from 2/12 so who knows.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
