Just sharing, in case this will help:
Submitted around 12/27
Had to amend app -____- early Jan
CR1 around mid Jan
CR2 around Feb 10
Acceptance e-mail on Feb 14th -
$75,000 - 3.6/170
Has anyone been offered a full ride at SC?

USC is my top choice. Should I send a LOCI now or another letter of rec??
I can't retake. I have taken the LSAT three times within 2 years.

Re: USC c/o 2016 Applicants
There have been multiple applicants offered $120,000. I'm not sure if that's their highest initial offer or not. The Rothman Scholarship (invite-only application) is a full-ride and a guaranteed fellowship, which has not been awarded yet.Loooooooora wrote:Just sharing, in case this will help:

Keep us <166's posted on how things end up! Losing hope, but had a pretty good cycle, so I'm content.

A URM with a 173 LSAT 3.35 GPA is 100% in at USC. I don't know what can keep you out.

Now that I'm in first read, should I email them some music recommendations for reviewing my application? And would Wagner be too aggressive?

Definitely not Wagner. Try Shostakovich No. 9.

As a music major, I LOVE where this thread is going.
I would second the Shostakovich, but replace 9 with 5. If that doesn't work, maybe some Cage to bring out my "special snowflakiness"

Already covered that angle. My essay is about having transitioned from the art world to the legal profession.Homelandsagreatshow wrote:As a music major, I LOVE where this thread is going.

You guys really don't think the Tannhauser Overture would get me in?

Would going to USC with absolutely no ties be a pretty risky move?

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

getting to know people and developing ties is a big part of law school, especially at a school with an alumni network like usc's. los angeles is a nice market in the sense that it's not new york or san francisco, but there are still a lot of opportunities with nlj firms. in my opinion, it's a nice in between and will hopefully facilitate a transition to a small market after a few years of biglaw.dykstaab wrote:Not knowing anybody in California/not having a concrete reason for why I would want to work in LA.mambar wrote:How are you defining ties?dykstaab wrote:Would going to USC with absolutely no ties be a pretty risky move?

Very good point. Wish the cost of living wasn't so high there...even with a good scholly, I am going to have to take on a lot of debt if I go to USC.jimmy_dean wrote:getting to know people and developing ties is a big part of law school, especially at a school with an alumni network like usc's. los angeles is a nice market in the sense that it's not new york or san francisco, but there are still a lot of opportunities with nlj firms. in my opinion, it's a nice in between and will hopefully facilitate a transition to a small market after a few years of biglaw.dykstaab wrote:Not knowing anybody in California/not having a concrete reason for why I would want to work in LA.mambar wrote:How are you defining ties?dykstaab wrote:Would going to USC with absolutely no ties be a pretty risky move?
