If anyone has housing questions, feel free to ask. I live at Cazabella, and it suits my needs perfectly -- it isn't fancy, but you won't be spending much time at home anyway. The other apartment complexes on 34th are very popular, as are houses near the law school (although those are usually taken by 2Ls and 3Ls).

How is Camelot?? I am seriously considering it for its free internet and cable, but I have read concerns about how old it is. Thanks!

It is old but it's really good for the price. I ended up next door in Hawaiian Village but I narrowed it down to Cazabella, Camelot, and Hawaiian. I've yet to meet someone who is seriously unhappy in one of these places unless you are really that concerned with the age. As long as everything works, which it does in my place, the cheap rent is all I'm thinking about.

Exactly. They are generally clean, everything works, and they are close to campus. They aren't anything to write home about, but Cazabella/Camelot/Hawaiian get the job done.

Thanks!! I really like the turret one bedroom model....that turret would be my battle station for law school hahaha. I am also assuming there is AC in all of them? I'm coming from Canada and the heat concerns me :(!

Yeah Camelot definitely has central air.

Outsiders always say that Florida is one of the easier states to gain residency. However, I've heard multiple people associated with UF and others who have tried who have said this is not the case, especially when gaining residency for in-state tuition purposes. I have two questions in regards to the process.

1. Is there anyone from OOS who has made the transition who can speak to the hoops they had to jump through? I have seen what UF requires, but I'd like to make sure it isn't any more or less complicated than that

2. More importantly, is it true that if you are claimed as a dependent by your parents that their residency is more important that yours? From what I've read, even if I moved to Gainesville, bought an apartment, got a new FL drivers license, voter registration, etc for a year+, that if my parents didn't do the same then my efforts would be worthless.

Again, any information about this would be most appreciated. If I can't work this out I'll end up elsewhere.

Thank you so much for the info!!! I have to sign the lease without seeing it as a trip to Florida is costly so this is invaluable info ;)!!

That might be helpful for residency purposes. From what I gleaned yes if you are dependent your parent's place of residence is more important unless you have been in Florida for five years.

I know for undergrad at (FSU) they only cared about my dad's residency, when we moved from Michigan to Florida. It was a huge pain but after 2 years I finally got in-state. However I believe for residency purposes in Law School because you would be a grad student only your residency will matter, your parents will be irrelvant. Good Luck!

Oh boy! Decision reached here also! I'm thinking it's not going to be good news, as I've had a few dings lately and it took UF forever to come to a decision. Not to be the wet blanket on everyone's hopes, but do you all suppose they let out a big wave of dings today? My numbers were definitely on the cusp (or a little lower).

Yeah it has to be either acceptance or waitlist. Dings are email.

Thats a relief! Hope it's an acceptance:D. Heard they don't give many people much money off waitlist acceptances.

Alright peeps, I'm joining the club with y'all. Here's my deal: late twenties, entrepreneur, sold my only company in December to begin working as a marketing director at a law firm. Active in my community, sit on some boards, loads of rich life experiences. Accepted to every undergrad I applied to, graduated BS business administration from UF in 2012.

My numbers are 153/2.8, but I believed I valiantly defended those numbers in my addenda, having worked full-time throughout my undergrad and beyond. Had some unique C&A issues many years ago, which again, has been explained thoroughly and well.

Applied on Feb 10th, status changed today to "File Reviewed, No Decision Reached". Also applied to UGA, UT Austin, GSU, and Emory. If I get into any of these schools, I recognize that it's of the interest of the school to attract a diverse student body (certainly it won't be attributable to my academic performance!)

So, two questions I pose to those who have come before me that may have the wisdom and sagacity to offer an opinion: how soon after an application was submitted did the NDR status emerge, and what kind of chances do you suppose I have?

Thats tough to say what kind of chances you have you seem to have good softs but the score hurts. If you could do a retake and take the test again and apply next cycle it may pay huge dividends for you.

In terms of NDR to FDR mine was almost 1 month exactly.

Sooooo, final decision was issued on Monday and hasn't shown up yet, but I just got the email talking about UF's past distinguished law visitors. I'm thinking continued promotional materials looks like a good sign!

I applied on 02/01/2013 and was moved to NDR today. Hopefully it won't be long before I move onto final decision. Good luck to all my fellow applicants on the NDR phase of things.
