Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
Good luck to you all. I am graduating in May and will be applying to Vandy in November as a 2017 applicant. It is my dream school. I actually have lived in Nashville all my life and yes, Vanderbilt is like Harvard down here. Nashville is a great city. Not too big where you have to worry about overpopulation or trashy city life, but plenty of things too down nonetheless. Great sports team. The Preds and Titans play less than 15 minutes away from Vandy. There's country music which you go ahead and start getting used to if you are coming down. It really is an ideal place to go to law school. Again, best of luck to you all.

Yeah, that's a much better way of putting it. The North has their well-respected institutions, and the South has theirs. Most people down here don't really know much about Michigan except that a lot of people like the school, some people know Cornell is an ivy league school, and almost no one has heard of Northwestern (and they always think it's in Seattle.)kuttlefish wrote:FTFYMab2013 wrote:Good luck to you all. Lay reputation really means nothing, though. Look at employment statistics, and it's pretty clear that Vandy sits comfortably with its peers UCLA and USC.

I honestly think employment statistics are a bit better at Vandy than those two schools.

Yeah no scholarship info with the box...made me panic for a bit (though I probably don't warrant a merit based scholarship anyways), but the information should be coming in the next month.
Thanks for everyone's input on the whole TN/Nashville thing. I think I'm going to the accepted student weekend thing... Vandy's definitely at the top of my list.
