Oh, it will be though.

Should rephrase. Exclusively full of Ivies and flawless softs. :P

I had a dream last night that I was woken up in the middle of the night by an acceptance and my first response was "uhhh... I'm pretty groggy right now, can I call you back?" and they said no and rescinded my acceptance. Yale's practice of calling at night only fuels my fears.

Eastern. I was out with friends and completely missed it until listening to my voicemail this morning.

So they really did call at 9pm. I suppose they know that we want to know, so we don't mind late night calls.

On an unrelated note, I'm pretty sure I would sound like someone who just won a call-in contest to a radio station if I got the Yale acceptance call, so maybe I should let it go to voicemail...

Congrats! Submission date? I see you also got into Harvard, so I won't even ask about numbers. I'm assuming their rocket high.

Stupid question probably but I figured I'll ask.

Today I received snail mail from Yale that asked me to apply because I'm either of lgbt or minority status. It included a number to call the director of recruitment and/or admissions if I have any questions in how to apply or how to work my app.

Is this standard LS mail that looks fancy because they sent it first class and it's from Yale?

168/3.75 non-urm hispanic -- I never applied to Yale.

Yale, $96 and a dream.

I did that with Harvard but it cost me more and I said it was worth it. But really, Yale?

I'm just not sure if this snail mail is unique-ish or just regular LS spam that I never open (but in this case I did bc, well, it's Yale)

They do it for URMs/other non-white people every year. I wouldn't read much into it.

No status checker. Just a random acceptance phone call or a rejection e-mail. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Facebook group is at 38 admits, so people are getting in... I'd sincerely love a rejection email because the small amount of hope I do have is just unhealthy.

I received the same letter today, 169/3.76 stats....I don't have a lot of money so I'm considering applying with the need access form. I understand that this is a standard form sent out, but I think that if they put that much effort into it then maybe they do emphasize other factors other than just numbers. I didn't cure cancer or anything though, so who knows, but the chance is not zero!

As a URM with those numbers your chances seem very real.

How much effort do you think they put into it?

Well, they typed up a specific letter, put an entire booklet of advice on the essays together, sent the look book, shipped it all first class, etc. more work in recruiting than those that just choose to apply without being sought out. Seemed like significant enough of an effort.

Edit: I just realized you may have thought I was referring to the need access form....I meant the packet!

I received the same packet in the mail and felt compelled to apply because of it. The sample 250s helped quite a bit as well.
