My stats are on the low end -- 171 and 3.84. I'm non-URM, non-traditional. I submitted on 11/23 and went complete a week later.

When you say "last night," do you mean after 5 p.m. EST? I've heard of people getting called at weird times.

Correct. My call came at almost 9pm EST. I was really surprised by that.

From Asha's blog:
There is no correlation between when you are admitted and whether you were a presumptive admit or read by faculty (I really don't see why this would make any difference once you are admitted, but anyway). Both I and the members of the faculty are reading files from early fall into April. So, it's entirely possible for an application to make it through a round of three faculty readers by December, just as it is possible for me to admit someone directly in the spring (it would be kind of odd, wouldn't it, if a must-have applicant applied on February 15 and I had no choice but to send the person to the faculty gamble?). In fact, I believe two years ago the very very very last file I read was a presumptive admit. Again: your chances of admission remain the same regardless of when you apply.
[/quote]

The above quote is pretty clear. I wonder, however, if this occurs for those applications that were submitted at the very beginning of the cycle. It seems that a presumptive admit's application would likely be reviewed faster (2 readers) than a non-presumptive admit (4) readers. Of course, this could get completely flipped upside down if, for instance, there were three faculty who happened to review collectively more rapidly than the faculty chair that presumptive admits go to.

Any thoughts?

Gosh. As a Brit, I hope I don't fall foul of that one. Maybe I should have spelled (or even ... "spelt" ) the whole application in British English just to rub it in

That we eat french fries with mayonnaise?

Never came across that until I was in Japan. I don't think it's a British thing fwiw, though the country can be very regional with certain things.

You're my new favourite

Special honours go to that YLS poster though. There's a night at the theatre and no mistake.

Congrats!! Hope you have a great time in New Haven!

Question: If I choose to update my app, will I end up in the back of the app queue? All I want to say is that I'm a finalist for a scholarship, but I don't think that's even worth updating my app for. Thoughts?

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should throw in an app to YLS. I'm way below their medians and I don't think I have much of a chance, but wanted some advice.

167, 3.78, URM (PR), pretty good soft factors, fee waiver (but I don't think that matters).

Any advice would be appreciated.
