my gmail seems to be working again, so hopefully that means the issues are getting resolved.

Of course, I just got off the phone with my dad, who finally admitted he probably won't have his taxes filed by the May 3rd financial aid deadline, so it may all be moot for me :|

Not sure if it's different for Yale, but most schools will give you an estimated financial aid award, then ask you to submit your taxes later. I think the deadline for parents filing tax extensions is October 15th.

That was the March 15th deadline I believe. May 3rd is the deadline to send in tax forms and finalize it.
I guess I can always grovel for leniency... I can only do so much to force a man who hasn't filed taxes in ten years to get his stuff together.

Haha one step at a time Sabanist. We all know you'll get good news later on today, but you can burn that bridge when it comes.

I wouldn't have the stats I do if I weren't cripplingly deadline-conscious and neurotic
Y'all have a lot more faith in me than I do.

still alive (for now)! I've lost all productivity and I could barely sleep last night...this is pretty torturous. Who would have thought 6 months ago that I would still be in this position?

Waitlisted by e-mail just now - I'm actually honored to have not been outright rejected. 175/3.84. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Urgh. I know, right? I was mildly hoping to be rejected instead of WL'ed.

What did it say?

"Should you choose to accept an offer at another institution, please keep in mind that your strong record indicates that you may be a promising candidate for future admission. You may wish to consider applying as a transfer candidate. Each year we accept a number of students who have performed well in their first year of law school. We often find that these transfer students are some of our strongest students. To make the application process as easy as possible, we offer an abbreviated "fast-track" transfer application to individuals who were offered a place on our waitlsit. We would be happy to speak with you next spring if you are interested in exploring this option."

Then instructions on how to let them know if you're interested...now.

Huh. I wonder if given the less competitive applicant pool they are planning for a smaller class size this year to keep their averages up and then admit more transfers next year. That's what I would do. Although perhaps the less competitive applicant pool doesn't apply to Yale like it does to some other schools [northwestern]

Thanks. Sorry for venting on here, it's just super frustrating.
And haha, I remembered you said you didn't know much about sports.

I'm in the same boat. WL is my worst case scenario because it means the uncertainty continues :(

How long are you planning on riding the WL?

Honestly, write a date down now, because if you get WL'ed, you'll start having irrational thoughts. lol

Does anyone know if YLS WLs emails had the same language in them last year?

No idea. I've been avoiding thinking about it in the hopes that it won't happen...

wrt transfers, their website says they only admit 5-15 per year, depending on size. Of course if the smaller-class/larger-transfer theory is right, that could change things...

At any rate, favoring WLs - as they apparently do - will give you guys a respectable leg up next year, if you choose to go through this all over again. Doesn't sound too optimistic for us rejects, though.
