Do you mean URM or like any non-white w/o implying any boost? I guess us white folk are getting lazy :'(domino wrote: Interesting that at least 4 of the TLS admits so far are non-white.
ETA Hopefully that's okay to say--if anyone thinks I'm referring to you and aren't comfortable with that, let me know.

It's interesting how sometimes this and other internet forums take on a kind of "implicit whiteness." Like, we're all white until stated otherwise. (Not saying that anyone here is making that assumption, just something I've noticed from time to time.) There is also a lot of entertaining gender ambiguity.ManOfTheMinute wrote:Do you mean URM or like any non-white w/o implying any boost? I don't know how the profile of admitted students compares to the general population on TLS, but I think that we are actually a pretty diverse bunch under our 'tars, and it seems that Yale values that diversity (read very broadly to include much more than just race and ethnicity)

Since something like 65% of applicants are Caucasian (with 10% declining to state, so likely Caucasian also), 3/4 of the time the person to whom you are referring on TLS is white.
Looking at SLS' and HLS' facebook groups, they also seem super diverse... although I don't spend much time pursuing YLS' group to see if its more diverse or not

Yeah, one of the things that struck me about the YLS Facebook group is its lack of diversity when compared to that of SLS and HLS. I also noticed how young the admits are (most seem to be class of 2013).ManOfTheMinute wrote:Yeah, you're green!!pedestrian wrote: It's interesting how sometimes this and other internet forums take on a kind of "implicit whiteness." I've found that I've actually been unconsciously assuming that people look like their avatars (gender, race, facial hair, etc.). It's going to be hell trying to find TLSers at the ASWs.ManOfTheMinute wrote:Yeah, you're green!!pedestrian wrote: It's interesting how sometimes this and other internet forums take on a kind of "implicit whiteness." Re: Yale c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
That may just be a sampling bias due to younger people using Facebook more often. According to class statistics, only 19% of the students at YLS are K-JD, while that percentage is about 24% for HLS.anela00 wrote:Yeah, one of the things that struck me about the YLS Facebook group is its lack of diversity when compared to that of SLS and HLS. I applied yesterday but so far haven't gotten an email confirmation from Yale... Is this normal? I see on LSAC that my credential report was sent, but every other law school I applied to sent notification of receipt within 24 hours....?

IIRC, I applied to Yale on a Thursday night and didn't get any confirmation until the following Tuesday. I wouldn't worry.catatat wrote:Uh oh...
