Just FYI for anyone it applies to, I visited this weekend and they let me know that it's their policy not to give any scholarships to international students :(

No wonder BU wins easily in terms of diversity (as measured by the number of countries represented and the number of international students)!

What could possibly be the rationale for that?

I don't know!! It was extremely disappointing. The woman in the financial aid office told me "we just don't." I did talk to Jose in admissions afterward though and he said he would look into it further for me.

Why should they have to have a rationale for their policy of giving away their money? (From a practical matter, it is difficult for internationals to practice in the US.)

Has anyone heard no from BC about a scholarship increase? I've been waiting weeks, and sent a few follow up emails, and I am not expecting them to say yes, but I'd at least like to hear one way or the other....

They just bumped me from 18 to 22k annually. Then I withdrew. Hopefully one of you guys gets my $$ and seat.

Give them a call. I called admissions and spoke to an assistant dean and she asked me to email her personally with my request. The following day I recieved an increase from 18k to 22k. Unfortunately not quite enough for me, but this method is worth a try for other people.

Emailed on last Thursday morning about Scholarship. Had not heard anything. Received a generous offer on Friday evening. Was pretty shocked, but excited by the quick turnaround.

 Side note: Anyone choosing b/w BC and GW? Hoping for some advice/help

I am. GW only give me 16K need base, but I am a hard IP guy. The choice will be tough.

Well because they have to be one of the ONLY schools with that kind of policy.

Decision Rendered, letter sent. Any insight as to what this might mean or is everything mailed?

I figured. It's weird since I"m right at BC's medians. I have a feeling they just don't like my application; which is fine since I was totally put off by their admissions staff.

Highly unlikely. Do you have evidence to the contrary?

Decision Rendered as well. "1-2 hours" soon or "1-2 days" soon? Just wondering how long I'll have to sit here wringing my hands.

1-2 hours, at least that's how mine was.

All I have is my personal experience and the experiences of several of my friends. None of us has encountered something like this.

Name one other school with a similar policy.

BC is simply strange.

After status changing to Decision Rendered, a letter will be sent to you within three days, I got an acceptance email. Nice 180 degree shift in my mentality though.

Also in today. Will scholarship info, if any, be in the snail-mail letter?
