I haven't bad any issues, at most it took 2 days to hear back, but they always had the answer when it took longer than a day.

Don't want to bash people for paying sticker, but honestly there are very few law schools (probably only 3 for sure) that are worth that much, and BC is not one of them.

With the market the way it is today, it is an absolutely huge gamble.

But then again, I don't know other people's situations or level of confidence in their ability to accomplish what they have in mind.

Perhaps some/many have family money, so they have a source of funding other than loans.

Hey guys, I recently went to BC's ASD and really liked the school. The people seem great and the employment stats (specifically big law) are well above their peer schools. So I am wondering if someone knows why their rank keeps dropping over the last couple of years? Please refrain from the US News bashing, i understand we have to look at the rankings with a grain of salt and I don't put high weight in them, but just want to know what's causing the drop in rank and if its something that should be a cause for long term concern. Any insight would be great, thanks in advance!

Possibly cost of attendance and competition/over-saturated north-east market.

At least it didn't take as hard of a hit as Fordham who has comparable stats and COA.

But if you look at the tuition for other schools that BC considers peers and compare its big law numbers in an saturated market they are still faring better than most, which is what is confusing me...

BC's "assessment score by lawyers/judges" is lower than any higher-ranked school. That's the metric that it seems to fair comparably poor in. I forget what its score was last year, but 3.7 is surprisingly low. For comparison, the next two lower-ranked schools have scores of 4.0.

Yep so was SMU, have very decent employment number, but killed in the peer judgement.

That's interesting, they biggest thing that's made BC one of my top choices was the reputation it has in Boston and the strong network in Boston, so why the low industry assessment score?

uhh the assessment scores are so unreliable and empirically worthless. you need to get all things USNWR out of your head, it is a shit methodology and USNWR has you right where they want you, thinking about the shit they pump out on a year to year basis. FULL DISCLOSURE: I do NOT go to BC

+1

Forget USNWR. Look at how the law school does in the market you want to work in. If you want to live and work in Boston, BC is a good option. If you want to work in CA, BC makes no sense. There are only a few law schools with serious national reach, so the best option is to go to the best school you can get into that has ties to the area in which you want to work.

Perhaps, but its better than anything else. :P

Incorrect. BC, #31, is behind ASU, which has a 3.5. Iowa, #26, also has a 3.7, as does Alabama, #21.

Personally, I follow the peer assessment scores (instead of judges): BC is s 3.3. BU is 3.4. ASU is 3.0. W&L is also 3.3. Much higher ranked, George Washington, is only a 3.4.

So, under a very quick scan, BC is ranked with its competition.

(The reason I follow PA is that I believe it more closely aligns with national rep.)

I missed those, my bad.

Also, where do you see the peer scores? I can't seem to find them on the website.

Thanks for the input everyone! But I was also curious about the trend downward, I guess just looking for people's opinion about the trend and if anyone knows if the school is doing anything about it.

Being a great regional school can be a double blade, maybe it is just self-selection, most BC graduates like to stay Boston region and are doing very well

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
