I feel like I know her from obsessively stalking her Twitter. It's kind of like meeting a celebrity at this point.

Wow, with a 2.42 and a 159, that is impressive! Fordham must really love their military. Are you URM?

Nope. Very good softs,LORs,exp.....I was actually very surprised I wasn't denied outright. Still hope. Maybe it was the "I don't need any money from Fordham Law" part that helped :)

To those without auto reject or auto admit numbers that heard yesterday, when did you initially go complete?

Got 15k/year. Really happy but I'm not sure it's enough for me to choose Fordham over Cornell. Anyone with any experience with negotiating? How stingy is Fordham? :/

What's your preference in terms of location? If you don't mind living in Ithaca for three years, I wouldn't bother negotiating and just go to Cornell. You'll save almost $15k in cost of living each year.

ETA: but if you'd rather be in NYC, fordhams career prospects in New York are not that much different than Cornell's, you'll just have to be closer to the top of your class. I would think that you could use a Cornell acceptance to leverage some more $$ from Fordham. Good luck!

They have a reputation for being very stingy.

Cornell's prospects in NYC are much better than Fordham's.

You're probably right. I should've said that I was focusing only on big law when I researched this --40% of Cornell's class ended up in big law compared to 20-25% of Fordham's I believe. It was probably much easier for those Cornell grads to ge those jobs, but I think that if living in Ithaca is abhorrent to you, Fordham can still get you where you want to go. ETA: if you're willing to work much much harder. I would still pick Cornell over Fordham any day.

Fordham:
Percent of 2011 class at firms over 100: 24.7
Percent of 2011 class at Fed clerkships: 2.3

Cornell:
Percent of 2011 class at firms over 100: 38.8
Percent of 2011 class at Fed clerkships: 7.9

NYC cost of living compared to Albany (I couldn't find stats for Ithaca, so I would assume even cheaper than Albany):
Groceries 29% cheaper in Albany
Housing 72% less in Albany
Utilities 27% less in Albany
Transportation 16% less in Albany

However, this should all go in "choosing a law school" forum.

Nice research! Yeah, I'm from outside of Ithaca, COL is probably significantly less than Albany. $15k at Fordham barely makes up for the COL in NYC, in my experience, and definitely doesn't make up for the difference in career prospects.

He's right, and he's right.
This isn't the venue to have this discussion, but if costs are the same and location isn't an issue, it's a fairly easy decision

Hey all checking in w/ 166/3.76 (and legal-ish work experience). Pretty hopeful about admission and we shall see about money. Hope things are going well in here. Applied 1/4.
