They say two weeks, so that puts us at hearing by the 24th. Law schools aren't very good with hard dates, though. Good luck.

Hmm... I think from what I've read most people define tier 1 as 15-50, because T14 is a separate category. That being said, I think top 20 schools, such as GWU, should not be in the same category as many top 50 schools.Anonymous4444 wrote:is their like a cut off what constitutes tier 1 like number 20 or 15? and if so what tier is fordham. is tier 1 just t14?

After the T14, the rankings become wildly useless.venus wrote:Hmm... I think from what I've read most people define tier 1 as 15-50, because T14 is a separate category. But don't you get better job prospects with BU, BC, WUSTL, GW, maybe Fordham? What do you guys think.

This isn't really the thread for it (this is discussed ad nauseum here) but look at the top 30 schools. Employment outcomes are obviously not given as much weight as they should be. Arizona State, W&L, and U Washington are all fine schools, but compare their LST profiles with WUSTL, GWU, and Fordham, and you see how little the rankings really matter.totoro wrote:But don't you get better job prospects with BU, BC, WUSTL, GW, maybe Fordham? Bingo. It all depends on where you want to work after you get outside the t14. Some schools outperform their ranking in biglaw placement (Fordham is an example), but the rankings after 14~18 or so fluctuate so wildly you shouldn't put too much emphasis on where a school's ranked (ASU is a prime example). I saw a graph floating around here a few weeks ago that illustrates this really well, let me see if I can find it.

Re: Fordham c/o 2016/17 (2012-2013 Cycle)
If I recall, roughly 57% of Fordham graduates acquire jobs that require a JD. So, rankings wise you would think they would be much lower than 30, until you realize that most law schools only find legitimate employment for 50% of their graduates.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:This isn't really the thread for it (this is discussed ad nauseum here) but look at the top 30 schools. Yes, Yes, and Yes.ajax wrote:If I recall, roughly 57% of Fordham graduates acquire jobs that require a JD. So, rankings wise you would think they would be much lower than 30, until you realize that most law schools only find legitimate employment for 50% of their graduates.
Once you get outside the T14 (and to a lesser degree even within the T14) location matters more than ranking, because schools predominantly place in the home market, where they're perceived better than their peers. For example, USC would have a hard time placing in Alabama, while Emory won't be competitive in Wisconsin.
Beyond that, there are different measures for employment outcome. Some people only consider biglaw + Fed. Clerkship as desirable outcomes, where Fordham is in the top 20*, while others are most concerned with JD required full time jobs**, where Alabama has a high percentage.
Neither metric is fair, for a number of reasons, but these numbers are objective and readily available, so that's what most people concern themselves with.

Re: Fordham c/o 2016/17 (2012-2013 Cycle)
when i got my acceptance packet in the mail, there was a letter inside that said that if you are going to be awarded a scholarship, the info will come via e-mail within two weeks of your acceptance. i don't think i'm super competitive either but i'm still hoping they offer me something...djlmjs22 wrote:How long after acceptance does scholarship info come out? From this thread it seems like it could be an hour to 2 weeks. Also has anyone contacted them about getting a possible scholarship? I doubt that I'm a super competitive candidate for one, but I really need one to attend so I'd like some info...

I applied like 2 weeks ago and still havent received a status checker e-mail or any confirmation that they received my application at all, has this time lapse been experienced by anyone else or should I have gotten some indication from the school already?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
