What's your GPA?

Also, don't put too much stock in YP or that it's just a numbers game. I know people who prove the lie to both of those
Not good, 3.1. I've got 2 years of WE, but my PS is pretty meh and I have some C&F issues which I think are going to kill me.
have hope. i also had some C&F stuff. Nothing overly serious but still.

Part of the calculation of a school's ranking is "selectivity".
It's something like Total Acceptances / Total Applications received.
Some schools, in order to improve this ratio, will allegedly reject overqualified candidates, figuring they'll never attend there anyway. Because no one knows further details, when someone with excellent numbers gets rejected from a low ranked school, people assume it's because of yield placement.

Ahh. Kinda the opposite of how some schools offer fee waivers to applicants they know won't get in? UCLA and Vanderbilt in my case...

Precisely. Just watch. Schools that have low applicant numbers will, all of the sudden come February, issue crazy amounts of fee waivers to up applicants.

I got accepted Thursday via email. 167/3.7 2yrs out of UG with pretty good WE. Like feralinfant I think my PS and WE have gotten me pretty far during this cycle.

Does anyone know what Fordham does in terms of schollys? I know some schools offer them upfront when the decision is made while others wait until the spring/later. I don't know whether to look forward to the acceptance packet for that sort of information or not...

Your numbers were auto admit. WE had nothing to do with it. If I were you I'd send an app to Northwestern. Then your WE will play a factor.

Thanks! I'm not sure - definitely by early November. My app materials were received 9/26. The email said congratulations for being in the first round of admits. I'll see if there's anything interesting that comes in the packet when I get it in the mail hopefully tomorrow or early this week.

Ajax - Thanks for the advice! I actually have applied to Northwestern and had my interview last month. We'll see what happens there..

I agree that work had nothing to do with it, but not that it was auto admit. It'd be unlikely to be rejected with those numbers, but acceptance was not quite a given.

I don't want to be too specific with my numbers. My LSAT is between 168 and 172. My GPA is between 3.5 and 3.9.

Man, we're like numbers twins. My LSAT is between 140 and 180 and my GPA is between 2 and 4

Just kidding :)

I think a better practice would be to reference medians and 25/75.

Based on the range you gave, it appears you are above the 75th for LSAT and around the median to above the 75th in GPA. Using this system gives everyone a better idea than the broad ranges provided.
