I always think people look so fratty like that but it still looks professional I guess. I seriously don't think of myself as an expert on business fashion but IMHO I think suits make the wearer look more mature than blazers and slacks.

Sorry to break up the bromancing over blazers...but

IMO you should go for business but it depends on who your interview is with/where. My off-campus interview was with a partner from a large firm at his office. Because I'm a woman, and my interviewer was older/male I thought it best to play it safe and wore a suit.

I went biz-cazj, but more on the casual side--a black blouson dress with white polka dots, tights, riding boots, and my nicest purse. (You're a girl right? Otherwise this is totally irrelevant to you.)

Edit: my interview was also with an older male at his office but he was not at a large firm so I didn't even think to wear a suit. It was fine. His assistant had visible tattoos.

What color slacks? Navy blazer + khaki colored slacks = puke.

Really? I think it works with a nice white shirt and a conservative tie.

It looks a bit prep school. Not bad in any way, but just...younger. Some associates at my firm rock it regularly, but it's not common.

I think the consensus from past pages is that you should wear a solid black suit no matter the location.

lolol

BIz casual is totally fine, IMO. I was vastly overdressed for my on-campus interview.
Unless you were wearing black tie, you were not overdressed. I give campus tours and nearly everyone who is interviewing that day is in a suit. The adcomm you're interviewing with is probably not in a suit, but that does NOT mean you are overdressed in one.

As someone else mentioned, Johann has said that a suit is basically expected for an on-campus interview. There is some debate over off-campus interviews, but a suit or very tidy biz casual are a good idea.

Oh, I'm not thinking of it as a replacement of a suit. It's more of a step-down situation, in those unsure situations.

I applied ED to NU

Today, when mail came, my parents (whose house I'm getting all my law stuff shipped to) were like "oh yay! your UCLA packet came! AND LOOK! NORTHWESTERN!" and both envelopes were big and full of hopes and dreams and I was in freakout mode

...Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College.

Ohhhh BB. You're gonna be ok.

Your parents owe you a few hundred dollars in Christmas presents for that mishap.

I have mine tomorrow. My interviewer has his own firm with his wife (i think they are both interviewing me at lunch because i double checked on the reservation he made and it's for 3). but we live in Florida, rarely do you see people in suits because it is so hot here. He said just to be casual but i'm planning on suit with no tie. He said he was going to wear slacks and a polo. it's always better to over dress in my opinion.

Get used to that. Lewis & Clark sends out more mail than any other law school in the history of time. You will get brochures for every damn thing they do.

And NU notifies by email, in batches, usually on Fridays. The acceptance packets come long after the emails.

I showed up to my on-campus interview in military service dress, which is basically the military dress-level equivalent to a business suit (scarlet met me briefly, although I didn't know it was her until she PMd me afterward). The secretary told my interviewer "why don't more people show up looking professional like that" and the interviewer relayed that to me and agreed he thought it was a nice touch. Moral of the story - don't wear a tux but dress up and look your best; full suit and tie, and even get your shoes shined. It makes a statement. Even for an off-campus interview I'd go with a business suit, except possibly lose the tie if it's in a very casual location.

Anyone know how much the interview delays your app getting reviewed (and a decision made)? I actually applied on the opening day of apps but didnt do my interview til just recently... my apps been incomplete all this time.

I don't believe they review your application until it's officially complete, but once they interview's done it should be pretty quick that you go "complete." Someone correct me if I'm wrong, or if you've had a different experience...

+1 it shouldn't take that long to go complete. Unless you did off-campus and your interviewer takes longer than usual to submit their evaluation. As far as how quickly it'll be reviewed and a decision will be made...no one knows. I'm guessing it'll take a longer than this month than if it went complete in Sept-Oct because of the increased workload of reviewing/making decisions on applications submitted earlier in the Fall.

I think I've refreshed Dean Lee's twitter 1000 times today to see if there's any indication that any ED decisions are forthcoming. Le sigh

I was told they're still reviewing ED applicants and should begin reviewing RD within two weeks. Hopefully that will give others a bit of a timeline.

Edit: with the aforementioned information that decisions are sent on Fridays, and since I was told the two week timeframe early this week, maybe ED acceptances will roll out next Friday. After all, what's TLS for if not speculation...

Interview today in london at a very intimidating law firm with very nice Northwestern alumni that basically confirmed everything crumps has been saying. very stimulating conversation, didn't feel the 'interview pressure' after the initial shock from all the marble at the firm wore off. Alumni has had a fascinating post-NU career. NU gets more and more appealing everyday
Also he said its always best to go to any law related interview in your most formal outfit. thankfully I was, after the debate here...all grey and black everything

Eich- if by stalk you mean hang out all the time, then I'm totally in :D :D

Just FYI, y'all, off campus interviewing is debatable in terms of what to wear, but if you're coming on campus hawgdriver is right-- dress up. Johann himself said he thinks it's suit mandatory, I believe. Don't cross the Johann. he is all knowing and all-seeing.

I'm planning on getting the application sent soon, and I'm waiting to hear who I need to set up my interview date with off-campus.

I'm giving myself between a snowball's chance in Hell and a 0 percent chance of getting in, but, figured I might as well try.

Edit: Alright, the die is cast.

At least I'm all done applying to law schools. Now, the waiting game.

<3 when they ask why I want to be accepted, I'll just name drop you. ;)

So, interview is tomorrow (off campus). Nervous because I don't think I'll be getting NU love. Guess I'll just make sure I know my stuff about the school because I have no clue what I'll be asked.

so i couldn't sleep last night and just spent a few hours looking up random things about Chicago and fantasizing about living there. I think I might be losing it.
