IIRC somebody earlier in this thread said he/she went back and looked at last year's thread and roughly half, mainly with high numbers got off the hold list.
They are shrinking class size though, so you might want to consider that as well

Also me, and that's what it looked like when I read through last year's thread, but of course TLS is a tiny sample size.

Longtime lurker here, but I have a question for you guys. I'm definitely what you would consider a borderline candidate, and NU is my top choice right now. I wrote a Why NU essay on the app, had an on-campus interview last month (showing what I thought was a solid interest in the school) and also had a campus tour. I also emailed my interviewer thanking him for meeting with me and to let him know that I was able to go on the tour. But since my application went complete on 2/27, I haven't heard anything. I know that isn't that long, and I should be patient, but I'm wondering if maybe I should send in a LoCI to further emphasize that NU is my first choice? Is an email fine for that? Or do you think I've already shown enough interest and that would be overkill? I just want to make sure I did everything I could, I guess. :?

Loci after < 3 weeks is significant overkill

That's what I thought. Thanks though!

Just got back from Mexico where I didn't have internet. Came home to two waitlists (Penn & UVA) but most importantly, an acceptance from NU. Barring something miraculous, I will probably be seeing some of you in Chicago.

I applied to NU back in October and have yet to hear. I called the office about a week ago and was told my application is fine and they are reviewing it (totally generic answer). Should I send a letter notifying them that I am still interested, even though I've heard from other places already?

Has anyone done this?

High numbers as in people with above median numbers for both? What does this mean for splitters (or reverse splitters) I wonder.. :?

Yes above median for both. I think it means most splitters/borderline applicants should expect a WL.

Quick question...

Are you supposed to address assistant deans as Dean?

I am writing an email, so not sure if it should Dear Dean X or Dear Mr. X

Thanks for the help :)

Dean is fine, I've seen emails referring to assistant and associate deans as simply "Dean X" that have gone out on the listserv.

Finished up my held essays FINALLY. Gonna try and submit while I'm at work but I'll probably need to wait until I get home :/

I hope he appreciates my minor epics in essays that just reach the 750 word limit.

I hope it was someone that thought their response was brilliant, and wasn't actually just being lazy

well if the haiku lazily threw yeah on the end to meet the syllable count they sure don't deserve money!

Safe to assume formal attire is the way to go for the Alumni/Admitted students dinner (SF)?
