LOL. Well, this is new... I've never seen or heard of anything like this before! They accepted but auto-deferred me with $$? So confused right now, ha.

The Admissions Committee has completed its review of your application and is pleased to offer you a one-year
deferred admission to the Juris Doctor program at Northwestern Law beginning Fall, 2014 along with an annual
and renewable scholarship of $50,000/year.
The Admissions Committee was impressed by many aspects of your candidacy but prefers that you gain an
additional year of work experience prior to matriculation. The Law School is increasing its emphasis on work
experience in the admissions process and presently more than 95% of our students enroll with at least one year of
post-undergraduate full-time work experience.

I will always remember this, the twilight of this decision. Those last few moments when maybe, just maybe, I'd get a break. The sky would open up and a world-class learning institution would accept me as one of their own. Those last few moments when anything felt possible. If for nothing else, thank you, Johann, for this time, these short fleeting minutes. I will always remember this.

Now I click "Submit" one more time…

Someone received a similar (same?) offer last week. Not entirely new, but definitely pretty awesome. Congrats.

Weird. Ok, does anyone in the second wave today have significant WE? This seems like a way of getting us K-JDers out into the real world.

edit: were you a second waver, carboncopy?

I've been sitting at complete since 11/7, so I doubt it.

I have a year and a half of full-time, and then like 8 years of internships and part-time...no idea what my actual decision is yet, though.

Congrats!

One other poster that I know of got this as well. This person should have posted about it within the last 10 pages (rough estimate since this thread has blown up a bit in the last two days)

Not sure... I wasn't really expecting any word from NU yet until I noticed all the activity on this thread and ventured forth to see, so I'm not sure which wave I was in, exactly.

It's for HYS-bound candidates who they really want to snag but without jeopardizing those post-graduate work stats too much.

You were in the first one. This is a very common offer for people with stellar numbers like yours but no work experience. It's definitely a great offer that you shouldn't take lightly (until you get that Yale acceptance, of course.)

I didn't interview either and still got in. IIRC you have much better #s than I do, so don't sell yourself short yet.
