I'd assume next week at the earliest. Deposit deadline is tomorrow.Looper12 wrote:Any ajd wl's get a decision?!

Anyone know if the Dean's recent pledge to increase scholarship aid includes students entering Fall 2013?

Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
It's a little ambiguous. Per their released statement:you'rethemannowdawg wrote:Anyone know if the Dean's recent pledge to increase scholarship aid includes students entering Fall 2013?
"Third, we will increase our total investment in need- and merit-based financial aid for entering students and in our LRAP program for graduating students by at least 25% during the next two years."
It would seem reasonable to believe that 2013 falls within "the next two years". How much of the 25% increase will be realized in the first of those two years is a little more difficult to guess.

Do we have any timeline for scholarships other than the ambiguous late march in the emails?
I really really want Northwestern, but have a full ride at another Chicago school (Kent/Loyola/Depaul) and they want an answer soon...
At what point do you think it's still worth it if I end up paying sticker!? Hopefully that increased funding is for this year!

I honestly would go to NU at sticker over any of the others at full ride. Others will likely tell you differently, but that's my opinion. As for scholarships, apparently they were all out by April 2 last year.Scarlett66 wrote:Do we have any timeline for scholarships other than the ambiguous late march in the emails?

still haven't heard back on a decision...this might be a stupid question, but for those who haven't heard anything, the 'enrollment deposit deadline' doesn't matter, right? or, is it common practice to place a deposit anyways if you know you are going to go if you happen to get accepted/waitlisted later?

+1. Those other schools are bad. Northwestern is great. Unless you're really debt averse or just looking for small law at a firm that you have been offered a job at I would choose NU.Kikero wrote:I honestly would go to NU at sticker over any of the others at full ride. Correct, the deadline does not matter. You cannot put down a deposit on a seat you have not been offered.ltezen wrote:still haven't heard back on a decision...this might be a stupid question, but for those who haven't heard anything, the 'enrollment deposit deadline' doesn't matter, right? or, is it common practice to place a deposit anyways if you know you are going to go if you happen to get accepted/waitlisted later?
Edited for clarity.

Do you not have a middle option? Maybe a T20 or T25 with money? If not, then NU all the way.mrizza wrote:concurBigZuck wrote:+1. Those other schools are bad. Northwestern is great. Can't speak for Scarlett, but I really wish Chicago had a T20-30 middle option. New York has Brooklyn/Cardozo < Fordham < NYU/Columbia, but Chicago only has TT and T14.cusenation wrote:Do you not have a middle option? Maybe a T20 or T25 with money? If not, then NU all the way.
I would chop off a limb to go to NU at sticker though.

UIUC could kill it by moving into the city. They have a business school campus right across the river from my office. I would realistically consider it now at 50% tuition if it were in that building.cusenation wrote:+100snapdragon25 wrote:Can't speak for Scarlett, but I really wish Chicago had a T20-30 middle option. ETA: I guarantee they'd have better applicants too... No need to lie about numbers.

DEFINITELY. I think they're trying to snag some Chicagoans by doing that 3L spring semester in Chicago thing, but if the whole law school was in the city they'd clean up.teiswei wrote:UIUC could kill it by moving into the city. The email I received regarding my "hold" status linked to that page. So I would assume it's current. Did you not receive a similar email?TorturedApplicant wrote:Does anyone know if those FAQ's are current? The "hold" decisions letter did not mention optional essays. The prompt for the first hold essay was different last year and there was a third optional essay, so it's definitely current.letitloose wrote:The email I received regarding my "hold" status linked to that page. No. My email linked the the status checker, which contained a link to a PDF letter. The letter states:letitloose wrote:The email I received regarding my "hold" status linked to that page. No mention of essays...

I got the link to the page with the essay a few days after the hold letter. It was emailed to me.

IIRC somebody earlier in this thread said he/she went back and looked at last year's thread and roughly half, mainly with high numbers got off the hold list.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
