This sounds very reasonable. Plus, anywhere that has Crumps can't be bad.rinkrat19 wrote:View from the other end of the social spectrum from Crumps: In the 1L class, I can think of maybe 2 people who are kind of generally "unliked." And even they have friends. No one is an outcast. I personally am a combination of antisocial, lazy and invisible, so I'm probably the closest thing to one that the class has. And I don't feel "unliked" by any means...just a little forgotten sometimes. Everyone in the class is genuinely friendly, no matter what social group they are in. (Example: Crumps is one of the social butterflies of the class and she acknowledges me in public. )feralinfant wrote:if i have to wait till sometime in february to find out i'm probably going to have a nervous breakdown. just saying. (hopes the lawschool gods don't punish this statement with the waitlist)cusenation wrote:Every time I refresh my status checker:
I don't know if i've heard a lot of horror stories necessarily, just that in general people seem to speak negatively of their classmates (i.e. "ugh law students are the worst" says the law student). I talked to somebody who went to Georgetown who assured me I would hate 95% of my classmates but that the other 5% would be "really cool". This is all anecdotal but I like to look at a few things-first Northwestern seems to be overrepresented on this board and are almost without fail incredibly helpful. The other thing is that I think the work experience and splitter tendencies of the class probably just lead to a chiller, humbler student body which is hugely appealing to me. Anyone actually at NU feel free to correct these conjectures if they're off. .BigZuck wrote: Northwestern hasn't been on my radar as much as some other t14s for some reason. This is making me reconsider. Care to share some of the horror stories you have heard from other schools? I'd love for specifics if you're willing to PM me. Maybe I need to modify my favorite schools list!?!
ETA: And if you, like me, don't have concrete career plans and are really tired of answering the question "What kind of law are you interested in?" from friends and family, the correct reply is "the kind I can get a job in."
Well guys, I have my interview on Tuesday. It's off-campus and I have no idea how it will go. I don't have any interesting WE.

One of my fellow 1Ls just posted this, I thought it would give you 0Ls some motivation:
"In the past twelve hours, my school has provided me with dogs to play with, free coffee, twenty four access to study facilities, pancakes, free massages, and most importantly, bacon. Love this place"

I don't know? Isn't the library closed after a certain time? (I guess it's obvious how much work I normally get done)bk187 wrote:Did this person not know we always have 24 hour access to study facilities?Kikero wrote:One of my fellow 1Ls just posted this, I thought it would give you 0Ls some motivation:

Library is closed but you always have building access and can go into the empty classrooms. I also like how the dogs they provided were the personal pets of students/faculty. (not to shit on it, I just found it funny)Kikero wrote:I don't know? Isn't the library closed after a certain time? (I guess it's obvious how much work I normally get done)

I'm not gonna lie, you folks are making Northwestern sound more and more appealing. It was already high up on my list because I'll be on the older side (31) as a 1L so appreciate the slightly higher average age there. I swear, the single biggest deterrent for me is the cold! I'm not sure I could handle it!

Random person: So what are you doin?
Me: Going to law school next year.
Random: Oh that's cool. Where are you going?
Me: I don't know. Depends where I get in.
Random: When will you find out?
Me: Soon/any day now/not sure/sometime
Every conversation since September.
My answer to the "when will you find out"? question: Sometime between today and August.

Sorry about that But I'm sure if you can't do the interview because you're international (in my case, I am far from Chicago and no alumni in ly area) they take that into account when analizing that you didn't request an interview... Like, better that than an American who just wouldn't request one. Anyways, good luck!defdef wrote:Yeah, I'm international. Well, let that be a lesson to future applicants I guess - suggest a skype interview!

Finally got my interview assignment today! (submitted the request 11/8). Is the standard protocol to email your resume ahead of time or just bring a hard copy with you to the interview?

Do you guys think business casual is ok for an off-campus interview?

I think the consensus from past pages is that you should wear a solid black suit no matter the location.ChampagnePapi wrote:Do you guys think business casual is ok for an off-campus interview?

BIz casual is totally fine, IMO. I was vastly overdressed for my on-campus interview.

Thoughts on snazzy navy blazer and slacks? I just love blazers.

Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
My interview was one of the rare occasions that I was happy to work in a fairly formal office so I didn't have to think about what to wear because I had to dress for the office. My interviewer and I met for coffee and we were both wearing suits (because he was on a break from work too).helix23 wrote:Agreed. I wasn't in a full suit.
