Any other AJD's have their status date update on Friday? I have almost no chance of getting in, but I am still hoping for some good news.

Thanks! I don't think I'll be able to make it to ASW so I appreciate every bit of info I can get from TLS. I really like that they look at their entire applicant pool for the scholarship process. Since I'm a late applicant, it seems like some other schools are running low on funds. I suppose the early bird gets the worm, etc.kennethellenparcell wrote:Hi! Just wanted to drop in and say good luck to all the applicants here and congrats to those of you who got in! I'm a 1L at Northwestern and I'm excited to meet you guys at ASW - which all of you should go to because it's a lot of fun.
By the way - you guys should definitely write something solid on those financial aid essays. I think the admissions office does look past your numbers a bit if the quality of your essays is good.
I will get started on those essays!

Seconding KParcell's advice on the scholarship essays. Last year apparently somebody wrote flippant crap, and Johann was seriously unamused. I took them seriously and got money when I had zero leverage (deferred a year for work/personal reasons). I know others who got money when their numbers really didn't lead them to expect any. The essays matter!

Does anyone know how specific we are supposed to be with these essays? Do they want numbers in the second one? Information about undergrad financial aid? I have to get on this stuff.cookiejar1 wrote:Anyone get started on their financial aid application yet? There are two more short essays to complete:

The way I think of it is that you're trying to create a narrative: that you deserve money. I don't think that specific numbers are required in order to do that, but I do think that specific details will give you credibility. Without knowing specific details about your circumstances, that is probably the best answer there is.francesfarmer wrote:Does anyone know how specific we are supposed to be with these essays? ETA: I don't think undergrad financial aid ino will be helpful.

Thanks. I was thinking of using the undergrad info demonstratively, like "look, I'm poor." I got full tuition in college. I'm hoping that will help!WhiteyCakes wrote:The way I think of it is that you're trying to create a narrative: that you deserve money. +1 very true. But at this point I just want to know. All this anxiety is killing me. Of course last year I said the same thing...and ended up being Held..then Waitlisted...so I should have built up a certain tolerance for this kind of purgatoryJayJones78 wrote:Well think of it this way, it may heartbreaking either way....cusenation wrote:We're already 3 days away from February .....it would be heartbreaking if there wasn't some major movement this weekJayJones78 wrote:I'm guessing all the big movement/weekly bloodbath will happen tomorrow?

I'm right there with you with anxiety. Because the AJD starts so early if I get accepted so many things are going to get In motion right away that knowing ASAP is key.cusenation wrote:+1 very true. Dying to hear back as well. After interviewing and touring last week, I'm getting so anxious.

for those that did on campus interview and this was the last part of your application waiting to go complete
1) how long after did you go complete
2) how long after did you get in

I don't check this thread that much anymore so that I can preserve my own sanity, but I'm rooting for you. I can't believe you haven't heard anything yet.cusenation wrote: +1 very true. Wow, I keep wistfully checking my mailbox everyday but since I was accepted the middle of this month, I guess I shouldn't expect the package anytime soon.shntn wrote:I think the first wave, back in December.spyke123 wrote:when did you get in?shntn wrote:Pretty baller padfolio.

I never actually got mine, it's my only disappointment in coming to Northwestern. /subtleproNUstatementCatFacts wrote:Wow, I keep wistfully checking my mailbox everyday but since I was accepted the middle of this month, I guess I shouldn't expect the package anytime soon.shntn wrote:I think the first wave, back in December.spyke123 wrote:when did you get in?shntn wrote:Pretty baller padfolio.
But on a more serious note, good luck to everybody still waiting, and I hope you come to Northwestern to everyone who's already accepted. Also, if anyone has any questions about NU or Chicago that they think a 1L can answer, feel free to message me!

NU paid for me to fly up there, see the campus, and interview as part of their Black Male Initiative program. It's been two weeks now, still haven't heard anything.
Starting to get real nervous.

I wouldn't trust anything a lawyer offers you called his/her "blackmail initiative". (but seriously - very cool and good luck)HankBashir wrote:NU paid for me to fly up there, see the campus, and interview as part of their Black Male Initiative program.
