i did this for the harvard thread, but i think this thread would enjoy this information too

data dump, using LSN figures from three application cycles (2009-2012):

464 H admits
114 Y admits
182 S admits
Total: 760 offers

CROSS-ADMITS = 166 total (receiving 382 offers)
50 HYS
3 YS, no H
71 HS, no Y
42 HY, no S

50, or 9.2%, of the admits are offered admission to all three.
116, or 21.3%, of the admits are offered admission to two of the schools.
378, or 69.5%, of the admits are offered admission to only one of the schools. (Of these, 301 were offered admission to Harvard, 58 to Stanford and 19 to Yale, according to my calculations.)

20% of Harvard admits get into Yale
26% of Harvard admits gets into Stanford

47% of Yale admits get into Stanford
81% of Yale admits get into Harvard

29% of Stanford admits get into Yale
67% of Stanford admits get into Harvard

Checking in. 4.04/172 non-traditional (30+, married with kids). Stanford feels like a pretty long shot as I don't have a ton of exceptional softs. I worked through most of school and between that and raising children there just wasn't time to be student body president or what not.

Question for you guys: I submitted my app in early November, but apparently the letter from my Dean was not received, so I only went complete a week ago. I'm concerned because I have an interview for a named scholarship at another school, and if I get it, I have to decide whether or not I'll take it within two days. The interview is in the first week of March, so there's a good chance that I will not have heard back from Stanford by then. If I was accepted at Stanford, I'd turn down the award. Do you think there is a way to notify the admissions office of this situation without coming across as a presumptuous asshole?

It sounds like a slightly delicate situation. However, there's still a six week gap. I'd write a very polite letter reaffirming your interest in Stanford and asking if you could receive an answer one way or the other by 1 March due to your circumstances. No guarantee it will work, but I think it's a fair request given that it's enough of a window for them to handle it without any real inconvenience.

If you get it, take the scholarship and withdraw from all schools from which you've already gotten a decision. If you haven't heard from Stanford yet, you are not required to withdraw your application from Stanford according to LSAC guidelines, whatever the scholarship school might say to the contrary.

So it doesn't seem like people have been getting phone calls for the past couple days. Does the first wave seem to be over?

Maybe I'm reading your question (or my reference) incorrectly, but I think Yale's admissions blog has a post addressing this very issue. The bottom line is that schools have agreed not to do this sort of thing, and so the applicant shouldn't sweat it. I would interview for the scholarship, and I wouldn't even bother notifying Stanford. If the other school finds out that you still have applications elsewhere and challenges you on it, refer them to the references in Asha's blog post. If that doesn't work, you may even try directing them to Asha. Granted Yale's not involved, but it seems like she's willing to go to bat for applicants on this one.

This. They can't require you to withdraw a decision you don't have. Only admissions.

Why are you judging numbers for anonymity? Still waiting on YLS?

Sorry. My scores (slightly altered to stay anonymous) are 166/3.95 ... Everything is fine but... that LSAT score :? I hope they can look past it.

Lol, five minutes after I got into NYU I was freaking out I accidently hit the urm button, finally figured out lsac saves your completed apps...

I'm happy for you, but I'm not gonna lie; this was slightly offensive while being simultaneously slightly justified.

I don't think either of us meant to be offensive, blowing through these app boxes it is easy to make a mistake, and this is prob the only way a person could inadvertently boost their chances

Well law school predictor says that the lsat/gpa ratio is only 2.01, and you are only 1 point off the 25th, so I wouldn't stress out about that.

Just a PSA: Law School Predictor has little relation to reality. MyLSN.info is where it's at.

I won't lie, you'll need great great softs to get in, but I'm sure Stanford would be willing to look past that LSAT if you're special.
