Re: Stanford C/O 2016 Applicants Thread
So, I think this means I'm screwed, but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this:
I just got my status checker today, and my application is complete except for my "study abroad transcript". Problem is, I didn't think I needed to send it. At the very beginning of the application process I called LSAC and asked if there was any reason for me to send it and they said no, so I didn't. Of course, then I failed to read Stanford's instructions carefully enough, because at least on their website it does say they want all transcripts for which there is no letter grade when it was transferred to my undergrad official transcript.
Which leads me to two big problems: 1) I heard while I was abroad that it can take at least a month for the university to send a transcript out, by which time it will be mid-February and I'll be complete very very late.
2) While I was abroad, I got a C. It wasn't really cause of typical blowing everything off while you're abroad...I was actually the only foreigner to pass the class. But even explaining that in an addendum (do they accept addendums this late?) couldn't sound like anything but whiny excuse-making.
On top of that, I was already a longish shot at Stanford anyway (170/3.93).
I wrote back to see if I do indeed need to send the transcript and haven't heard back. Was wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this, or if anyone has any thoughts on it. I figure in the end I'm gonna have to do my best to send the transcript, and get a ding before it even arrives....

Probably not great, but I would not throw in the towel yet. Request your study abroad transcript immediately -- don't wait for a reply from Stanford. See if you can pay a rush fee, offer to send a prepaid overnight mail envelope, or anything like that to expedite it. And I do think that you should do an addendum to explain that C. It doesn't have to sound whiny and if you spin it right, could actually reflect very well on you if you were the only foreigner to pass.

Any chance "pass" counts as a grade, and they're just slow at updating it?

Ah, once again, congrats to everyone getting in!!!!
For everyone else, don't know if you're freaking out as much as I am, but when would you say its time to send desperate LOCIs?

This happened to me, and I might suggest playing around with your username. I was able to access the checker once I included a space before the username, but now the problem seems corrected. Good luck!

I got the acceptance call about 2 hours ago! Submitted 11/6.
Taking the LSAT for a third time was the best decision I've ever made. 163/165/176 3.9

Re: Stanford C/O 2016 Applicants Thread
Congrats to all new admits!
So it seems apparent that they're admitting folks (or at least notifying folks of their admittance) in small waves according to their submission/completion dates.
How are people who went complete before December (such as myself) and have seemingly been passed over during this wave of admissions interpreting their chances and wait times for a decision? At this point, is it pretty much either 1) Ding/WL sometime in the next three months or 2) Offer of admission in April?
I know the SLS cycle is all screwy this year, but based upon last year's data it seems like the biggest wave of admissions happened in January, while the second biggest wave happened in April (ostensibly after a review of any unofficially "held" applicants). Just wondering if we are indeed in that large wave, in which case I sadly missed it.

Applied 12/5, submitted for review 12/14...172/3.92. If I don't have a call by this time next week, I will definitely be squeamish.

I submitted 11/4, complete before some of these admitted folks. Same concerns as you. I'm guessing they will admit a few more late November/early December applicants tomorrow, since the number of admits seems pretty light so far even for Stanford. I'm expecting a rejection letter sometime in March for myself. Really wish it would come sooner so I could settle psychologically on Berkeley or one of the manhattan schools.
