Stanford is my Yale in terms of unresponsiveness...

Does anyone know about the proportion of people who haven't heard back? LSN seems to indicate that there are ~ 50% more rejects than admits, which makes for a very small pool of people who have heard. I could be wrong.

just anecdotally, it seems like the majority of applicants i've interacted with are still waiting to hear back from Stanford. not sure what the hold up is...

Of the 5 pages of applicants on LSN, only the first page and 1/2 have gotten back decisions. I think the majority of us on LSN are waiting.

my lsn says if you applied in Nov/Dec and haven't heard back yet = ding or WL

Slow day at work. I just did a quick manual count of acceptances on LSN between this year so far and last year. This doesn't count WL admits, and doesn't account for any increase in users on LSN (I have no idea what these numbers are).

2012-2013: 67 admits
2011-2012: 65 admits

So it doesn't look like there are going to be too many more acceptances. Those of us still waiting are probably getting the DLS. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news y'all.

You have Berkeley, right? That's such a great school! Everyone I know who goes there absolutely loves it.

I do, but I'm thinking of retaking the LSAT and reapplying. It's a tough decision.

Where are you headed if SLS doesn't come through?

Just checked out your LSN. You'd be crazy not to go for Berkeley! It's not S, obviously, but that's a really solid option.

My thinking is that most who end up at HYS turn down a lot of money from T-14 schools including Berkeley. Berkeley is awesome, but Y/S are AMAZING! At least from what I've read and what I've heard from students.

I think you should totally go to Berkeley. It's a great law school and I seriously doubt that you'll wish you had re-applied after you start orientation there. It's easy to feel bad about not getting into HYS when we spend as much time as we do on TLS but in real life people will think it's awesome that you're going to Berkeley and you'll have tons of great academic and professional opportunities.

I'm most likely heading to NYU this fall. I'm really excited about NYU though I will admit that I'm trying to get off the wait list at Harvard and would give Stanford some serious consideration if I miraculously got in.

Is there a general thread for people thinking about reapplying? I did a search, but it was mostly people just asking about their individual situation. I think it would be nice to bounce thoughts around. Worthwhile?

Good luck on HLS! But, you're right, Greenwich Village is an amazing place to spend three years.

I do wonder if TLS messes with our heads a bit, but I do know quite a few people at HYS and they're all loving life.

RS - where are you heading if SLS doesn't come through?

Tx - let's start a thread!

Thanks, ssanonymous.

Also, I've heard amazing things from both HYS students and CCN students. I know that there are a few reasons HYS are ranked higher than CCNB but we're talking about the difference from ranks 1-3 and 4-7 here, not ranks 1-3 and 30-33. You will meet intelligent, engaged and ambitious people at all of the top 14. I don't think a few extra points on the LSAT or a few more A+'s in undergrad are indicative of a massive intellectual gap between HYS and CCNB students.

Edit: TLS totally messes with your head. I would recommend taking a break for a week or two and re-evaluting how you feel about Berkeley.

TLS does engender a feeling of skepticism, but I think very few on here would argue 120k+ aid at Berkeley is a bad deal...

Oh, I don't doubt that there are amazing students at T 4-7 schools. What I think makes HYS such a great option is that they almost guarantee success for all of their students, whereas I think you need to be in the top 40% at Berkeley to have a reasonable shot at a clerkship or honors program. I'll seriously think about Berkeley vs. year off when SLS gives me a rejection.

Yes, I guess that's true about HYS although I haven't met any Berkeley or NYU grads who have mentioned feeling frustrated about their clerkship or professional prospects. Also, random fact: I went to a clerkship Q&A at NYU where the speaker noted that one of Justice Sotomayor's current clerks is a Brooklyn Law School grad. I feel like the tide is slowly changing and the HYS old boys' network may be slowly disintegrating. When the Supreme Court Justices were heading to law school the application process was completely different and it seems like anyone who had a strong academic background, impressive resume and passable LSAT score ended up at HYS. These days that's definitely not the case.

I'm sure you'll make whatever decision is best for you but my mentality at this point is kind of fatalistic. I'm happy with NYU and I feel like if Harvard is meant to be, it will work out. Sure, sometimes I wish I had done better on the LSAT and kick myself for underperforming my PT scores, not taking a good test prep course, etc., but at the end of the day I'm going to law school because I want to be a great lawyer and the opportunity to become a great lawyer will be be offered to me by both NYU and Harvard (and many other schools).

Leaning hard towards UVA, but I'm still weighing a scholly there with a smaller amount of money at Chicago. (I'm actually asking for opinions here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=208173)

I've deposited at UVA and I'd say there's a 75% chance I end up there. I would have loved Berkeley, but they didn't show any finaid love.

I second Berkeley. Great schollie there. I got in at sticker (International Student - no fin aid for me!) and was seriously considering attending.

If I don't get in HYS I'll probably retake and reapply. Currently enjoying a job in IP Consulting as an Engineer (which got me interested in law). After much thought I've decided that this job>UCB but not by much - mostly because UCB is at sticker. Though I'm willing to pay sticker and more (to adcoms: yes this is a bribe) for HYS.

Lol. I wonder if Yale auctioned off admission to 20 candidates w/ 170+/3.8+ (so it wouldn't kill their median) to the highest bidders how much they would make. $10 million? $15 million?

If that ever happened I don't think I would even apply to Yale.

Someone actually suggested that I sell my spot at YLS to the first person on the WL to make up for the lack of finaid that HLS gave me... tempting.

What an odd suggestion. Yalies don't sully themselves with pedestrian pursuits such as money, so it would be kind of hard to ever recapture the expense. Now Harvard or Stanford on the other hand...

anyone have a guess as to when we'll get some admissions decisions? wild speculation might help fill the silence.
