You're supposed to get a phone call first and then a package latter.

So I still haven't gotten a phone call, but I received an email saying:
"Congratulations again on your admission to Cardozo! We hope you will be able to visit us for our
ADMITTED STUDENTS DAY
Monday, February 18, 2013
Join us and meet faculty, current students, and other members of our community.
Learn about the many opportunities available to you as a Cardozo student."

No phone call, no mail, no other emails. I'm assuming I'm in, but does the lack of communication indicate I won't be receiving a scholarship?

Congrats! Got the email just now? its so late on the esst coast
What are your #s/when were you complete?

I'm assuming your status checker changed as well?

Edit: I'm still complete since 12/24

I got the email earlier today. AA Male 164/3.3 (3.2 when I submitted, I'm not sure when/if they got my new transcript). Complete like 11/19, my status checker changed to decision sent a few days back. I'm in Cali, so maybe they didn't have a time convenient enough to call?

Holy Shit! Got my acceptance package today (same day as email for admitted students day, which was confusing)! Nathaniel Gates Scholar, full tuition for three years. Disciplinary code seems to be the only stipulation. This adds a huuuge twist to this cycle if I understand the stips correctly.

just got the phone call - in with $10k a yr. no change to my status checker; it's still at complete as of 11/21. I was beginning to lose hope!

Hoping to negotiate the scholarship....$10k is not much when tuition is $50k.

Hey Everyone!

I just received an email about being waitlisted and have the option of being considered for the may start term. I read a few comments on the may start...does anyone else have info on this? pros and cons? I heard that Cardozo makes most of its waitlist decisions closer to the start of classes. I'm out of state and the may start term is 5 days after my graduation. Not the most ideal situation.

Any info is appreciated!

Cardozo 1L here, I'm avoiding my property reading and ended up here. Feel free to ask any questions, I'll try to check back as often as possible.

Can you tell us what made you choose Cardozo/what were your other options?
How is it so far?
What do you think about the talks that Cardozo grads are tailing down after CLS/NYU/Fordham in NYC and the rest of the t14s in NYC biglaw jobs?
I was also very pleasantly surprised to see Cardozo on the NLJ250. What do you think about Cardozo and biglaw chances (in NYC)

Thanks!!

I negotiated and ended up with a pretty big scholarship, and NYC is where I likely want to practice. I turned down Villanova and Penn State (Full), and smaller scholarships from Washington and Lee.

NYC is a competitive job market for lawyers and its not really surprising that CLS and NYU especially are doing better than us. I really don't know too much about Fordham except that I never considered going there for sticker, and their biglaw placement was not high enough to make me consider taking on the debt. From my own personal experience most 2L's and 3L's I know that are top 15% already have secured their post grad job in biglaw. Our location/ local reputation brings in a lot of firms to OCI that you might not see at other schools similarly ranked.

Well first just to clarify, just because your are top of the class does not mean that you are guaranteed big law (if you have no interviewing skills its not going to happen) or that if you are not top of the class that you have no shot, it can happen, especially if you are good at networking.

There is really no way to answer your question. Anywhere you go it will be hard to make top grades, sometimes it comes down to luck. Obviously working really hard to master the material is your best bet. Never assume you will be at the top of your class. Everyone should go into law school with the assumption you will be somewhere in the middle, no matter how smart you think you are.

Thank you. Do you think the fact you're in NYC gives you more networking abilities than those who go to remote schools? (Even t14s)? Do lawyers in the city even care about 1/2Ls?
