Yeah...it might be a good investment.

But another part of me just gets queasy thinking about it. I don't know if I could put myself through that torment again.

I've taken it 3 times already and would study and retake
in a heartbeat for a chance at more money. (But as a splitter, my gpa is the limiting reagent for $cholar$hip$)

Ive taken it three times already as well. Though I am happy with my third score, if I didnt have to wait two cycles I would definitely take it again, because in my Pts I was breaking a 170.

This. I only broke 170 a couple of times but I was consistently scoring around 168/169 on my pts. Who knows, maybe being forced to retake by these circumstances will get me a high enough score to consider waiting a cycle (if I don't get into UT that is).

In my pts i was between 167-171 but I got nervous and choked. I'm hoping that knowing I am in here will help me relax enough.

Retaking in June can lead to getting off waitlists, sometimes with money.

I understand. A couple days before the test I scored 1 174 and my high was 175. I was happy when I saw a 168 but in the back of my mind I was wishing I didnt take the LSAT the first time I took it (I wasnt ready) so I could retake again. Recently I got into some really good schools, however, including UT, so those feelings subsided.

Good luck! I hope you get in.

Sweet! I just got an email about the ASW offering up to $200 travel reimbursement. Very happy about this, since I read the stipends are merit based so I wasn't sure I'd get one. Can't wait to visit!

I would be feeling fantastic about myself with the schools you have heard from.

has anyone tried negotiating with UT yet? I got a pretty generous scholarship but considering how far I would be moving to attend + the fact that I would still be well into 6 figure debt at graduation I'd like to try for a little more. Who would they consider peer schools for negotiation ?

My friends there say to negotiate anything and everything, especially if you're in Texas (meaning you've been accepted to other TX schools). They're competitive, so if you can show high schollies from Emory (in my opinion) and up, they'll try their best to keep you. But if you're a TX resident with oodles of money from SMU and/or Baylor, UT is gonna notice you're in high demand in the state and work to put a bigger worm on the hook for you.

Vandy, UCLA, maybe USC. And then the schools ranked higher than it should motivate them.

Do you think getting in to a t 14 at sticker would motivate them at all?

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Now if SMU would get around to accepting me and offering me some $$...

I'm kind of doubting that Baylor offer would motivate them because its a significantly worse school and you already have instate tuition which is a pretty solid discount.

Yeah I'm thinking a Baylor offer wouldnt really do much, since they seem to throw ton of money at pretty much everyone and no way Texas considers them a peer. Is there evidence people have been able to use SMU/Houston offers to negotiate? Maybe if you could make the argument that it makes more sense for you to stay in Houston/Dallas due to family or something could make them throw some more $.
