Do you know anyone who had an interview before?

Has anyone heard back from someone who has had an interview before? I also received an interview invitation, but I was confused because their website makes it seem like interviews have a set structure of "15 min presentation" and a "15 min writing sample critique." I called the admissions office and they said that although it's not a strict presentation (like with powerpoint) it's the same as described on the admissions website.

Any advice/thoughts?

PS: I'm working in DC right now but I'm in-state, 3.42/166 female.

I got my scholarship letter today (actually arrived yesterday)! I can't imagine getting a better offer to compete with it + instate.

So the interview is a presentation and not a normal interview??? Did Texas say when they are thinking of holding the interviews?

Nice! Yeah, I think that is a pretty great deal. Not sure I will be able to top Texas' offer either and so that's where I'm leaning right now (plus Austin is amazing so that helps too!).

I haven't called to schedule the interview because I wasn't sure if it was a presentation or normal. My understanding from speaking to the woman at the admissions office was it was the format described on their admissions website.

Does a current student have any advice on this?

Congrats! That is awesome. How long did it take from the time you were accepted to the time that you received your scholarship information?

I got the call last Friday (1/25), and the letter arrived yesterday in the mail (1/31). I was told it would take two weeks from my phone call, so I was surprised it got here so soon! I just got the admissions packet on Wednesday!

I wouldn't worry! If they said it's coming, then it probably is working its way through the USPS to you right now. :D

Thanks! but the problem is they never said was coming. At least not directly. I emailed them and they said it usually takes 2 weeks but never specifically said whether I would get one. According to LSN a good portion of people with my numbers do get some $$$ so Im hoping for the best.

I saw that on their admissions page awhile ago (about the presentation style interview). Not sure if this was the same thing since the email said they were going through early decision apps and wondering if we were interested in interviewing. The site made it seem like you had to have something new to bring to the table before they considered you for an interview.

Anyway, I got an email from an alumni asking if I would be able to come to Austin for an interview. Ahhhhh I hope they can schedule it after my patent bar.

Thanks! Applied first week of January and went complete shortly after. I should say that I haven't received an official admissions letter. I got an email inviting me to join FreshLaw. I just checked my status after and it said "Admission Granted"

Congrats on your scholarship. In-state + 12k/yr should make Texas a sweet offer.

I would think you would end up getting some $. Monica posted on the facebook page that merit awards starts at 3.6/168 but they also do discretionary review for admits that fall just below the gpa requirement. At worst, you should be able to use your Minnesota/Cornell offers to negotiate some money!

Congrats to all the new admits!! I have to agree I got 12k + in-state, pretty great value imo tough to beat :)

Thanks! That was my line of thinking as well. I mean Im at the LSAT requirement and ridiculously close to the GPA requirement so we'll see how it goes.

Well, CRAP. Now I'm really nervous.

Here is what the website says:
The Law School has a limited interview program. Our program is specifically designed for applicants who have new and/or additional information to convey outside of the information presented in their application. To this end, the format of the interview is atypical. Rather than being asked a series of questions by the interviewer and then being evaluated on the basis of your answers, you will be expected to make a 15-minute presentation and prepare a 15-minute writing sample. The interview is a chance for you to present compelling information about yourself, rather than an opportunity for “face time.”

I am confused about the second part. Does this mean we prepare the writing sample during the interview, or come with one to be critiqued?

This is just me guessing, but having a time limit on a writing sample would make me think it is done during the interview.

Come with one to be critiqued, is what I read in a book. But I suggest calling the admissions office and clarifying if you're having an interview.

Are you scheduled for an interview as a response to the email from Dean Ingram?

I was under the impression from the email that it was a normal interview. I already responded yes to the interview. But if it's a presentation I'm going to be really nervous.

Yeah, I interview on the 12th.

I am more inclined to follow the second option... But the wording of the instructions is a little odd.

Every time I think of writing sample, I can't see anything past the LSAT essay... :P

I would seriously recommend calling them to clarify what you need to bring. I don't think they would fault you for that.

I have a book with quotes from Deans from the top law schools, including Dean Ingram, and she described the process as having a 15 min. critique of a writing sample you bring.
