Hang in there, guys. This wait is brutal. I can tell a Harvard-related story of me embarrassing myself if it will keep you entertained!

keep the dream alive MOTM.

My story isn't too terribly exciting. I just don't know many people IRL applying to the T-14, especially from my school, where the only one I knew graduated in December. (And I know he lurks TLS and knows who I am, so sup?) But anyway, I noticed a dude in my class wearing a harvard law hoodie, so my naive self is all like, "OMG NEW FRIEND!" So I ask him if he'll be going next year, probably with the same face I had when I got my first bike for Christmas. He looks at me like  and scurries out of the classroom. My professor and I are chill (he wrote one of my letters of rec and advises my student org), so he didn't even try to stop himself from laughing at me.

And aren't they doing JS1s today, too? It'd make sense that on JS1 days, they won't start making calls for JS2 until later in the evening. (Or at least that's what I'm telling myself to maintain sanity and optimism.)

Sounds more embarrassing for that other kid than for you! If being overly eager were a crime, we'd all be locked up fo' life. :D

So... has anyone ever had a technical glitch, had to reschedule, and still gotten in? Like, someone who shouldn't have had a shot at a JS1 to begin with?

Asking for a friend.

I think technical glitches are too rare to be able to deduce anything from... I wonder what happened to that one guy who missed his interview because the time zone was ridiculous

haha, I'm just pretty shy, so when I finally work up the confidence to approach someone, getting shut down is the Actual Worst.

It did happen to wormfather. Honestly, shit happens, and no one is going to fault you for a tech glitch. It took 5 minutes for my Chicago interview to start because we couldn't see each other on Skype. Things worked out there, and I'm sure things would work out here.

Subtle... very subtle. Haha, kidding. :)

KB was 8 minutes late for my interview. I want some sort of a makeup admit for that... I mean, COMEON.

That makes me feel better, thanks. The crazy thing is that I was so careful to download the latest version, run test calls with friends, etc. I even bought a new external mic! Now I wish that I'd had a second computer ready to go just in case.

She was very nice about it, so I'm trying to keep positive.

<-- Had 3 computers at the ready
Only because I work in an IT office.

I'm sure it's going to be fine. You're definitely not the first person, and you won't be the last. It comes with the territory when using technology like that.

I think with interviews it's more about how you handle yourself when something goes wrong than it is about the fact that something went wrong. I'm 99.9% sure they won't hold a technical glitch against you. Now, if you started sobbing uncontrollably when the glitch happened they might hold that reaction against you. Alternatively, if you were calm, collected, and professional, that might actually benefit you. When I was in college I was fortunate to be one of 5 applicants out of over 300 invited to have a phone interview for an internship. Less than 10 minutes into my interview, the fire alarm in my dorm went off. I ended up getting the internship. my boss, who conducted the interview, later told me that one of the reasons I got the position was because of how I handled the fire alarm going off. So, long story short, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I bet you handled yourself well and will end up with a rescheduled JS1 --> JS2 soon!

Thank you! I was remarkably calm and collected for the worst moment of my life, if I do say so :)
