curiosity --> are those who have received interviews from east coast?

Perhaps adcoms are taking into consideration the geographic region hit by hurricane sandy and delaying interviews for candidates in the region? just me overthinking things perhaps :)

I'm in one of the worst hit areas (although my neighborhood was safe) and I was in the first batch of JS1 invites. So there was definitely no delay in my case, and sometimes I even wonder if that was the reason they expedited my invitation.

Ahh, ok, was just a though.. Sorry to hear that you were in the affected area. I live in NJ myself and I think I will be cutting down fallen trees in my yard for several months lol. But, anyways congrats on the JS1 at least!

Thanks! Though it sounds like you have it worse in terms of trees lol. Hopefully you'll be rewarded with a JS1 soon :)

What does the 1 in JS1 stand for? I tried to Google it so I don't have to embarrass myself and ask but I didn't seem to find any info :)

Lol, you wouldn't find it when googling because I think it's just a TLS tradition. There are two times when the Admissions Dean/Admissions Director would contact you by phone: the initial interview (now through skype) and when informing you of acceptance. So people started referring to these two contacts with the initials of the person making the calls plus the numbers 1 and 2, respectively. Hence, JS1=interview and JS2=admitted.

Ahhh... I was confused because I realized people were referring to the interview as JS1. And since I know there are no second-round interviews, I wasn't sure what JS2 would be :) Thanks!

I don't think when you apply has all that much to do with it - at least not while we're still so early in the cycle. I'd imagine they slot new applicants into the queue based on their numbers, and some early applicants might not get a JS1 for weeks. But if you have relatively competitive numbers you'll probably get one eventually. I wouldn't sweat it too much. I want one just as much as everyone else but until we get later into the cycle I don't think its panic time yet

Don't think it's related completely to numbers, I'm above both 75 percentiles and went complete 10/10..fingers crossed there isn't something wrong with another part of app- Here's to hoping for early this week!

Thank you for posting this haha - glad I'm not the only high numbers no email out there

What's the general consensus for what to wear for the interview? Is a dress shirt alone ok (for guys)?

I think so. Someone asked this on the admissions blog and this was Jessica's response:
I guess a little more guidance on point 5 above is in order :) My basic guidance is that you should present yourself in a professional manner—this interview is an element of your application, after all. If you are most comfortable in a suit, you are welcome to wear one, however a suit is not required. A nice dress shirt is appropriate for both women and men. A t-shirt is not. Hope that helps!

She doesn't mention a tie. ETA: FWIW, I'll be wearing a suit--but that makes sense for me since I'm rushing to work the second the interview ends.

To those invited did you have to sign up via your status checker after the email or did you sign up directly from the email?

GL Lavitz. In part because Legend of Dragoon is the most underrated RPG of all time and in part because you're the kind of person I would want as a class mate.

Do we have any idea on what types of questions law school interviewers ask? I would imagine it strongly resembles a job format--with the "Why do you want to work here?" question replaced by "Why Harvard?"

Is there anything else to be aware of that might be different from a standard job interview?

Haha, finally someone mentions it

Thank you. I'm sure you'd make great classmate too. And I'm going to need all the luck I can get, if only to keep this nor'easter from knocking out my power again before the interview.

In the past, the 3 main questions were usually variations of "what are you doing now?" "why law/why law school" and "why Harvard?" Then they would ask questions about parts of your application they found interesting or wanted clarification on. And lastly they would ask if you have any questions for them.

i will not be able to submit my applications until one of my recommenders finishes his letter next week, or maybe even later, as he can be somewhat disorganized, though he is awesome--i am worried it is getting late.

also whoa--are all accepted applicants interviewed? i thought i was seeing that on page 1 but didn't know that before.

This should be pretty helpful for you:

https://blogs.law.harvard.edu/admission ... g-process/

To answer your two questions, though, it seems like they'll be doing interviews on a rolling basis right on through the end, and any accepted applicants will do an interview.

Good luck!

thanks! muy helpful.

Also, are you guys purchasing/do you already have an external microphone for the interview?

According to the email, "We have found that the technology works best when using an external microphone with a computer. Additionally, using a handheld device is suitable for the interview. Either way, we ask that you test whatever device you plan to use for the interview before your appointment."

I'm in one of the worst hit areas (although my neighborhood was safe) and I was in the first batch of JS1 invites. So there was definitely no delay in my case, and sometimes I even wonder if that was the reason they expedited my invitation.

Interesting thought about the earlier interview invitation. I too got the email on Wednesday and also am in the NY area. Clearly this sample size of two means something haha

Nothing yet. Every email I get I think is a JS1. Damn you Ticketmaster.
