I'm holding out hope every single day until they personally squash my dreams. I just hope they feel bad when they do it

edit: but realistically it aint gonna happen before the break

Today was my last day of hope for this.

But after going through LSN, there is all the hope in the world for a JS1 in the next 4 months regardless of when we submitted.

What did you see on LSN that makes you say this?

But as a side note, there are about 100 people in the Harvard 2016 FB group. So you can assume some didn't join, and it's still a pretty small number of admits so far. Worst case maybe 50% of admits joined and it's 200 total? Still only 1/4 of the way through the admits. Now if the December test takers can all just bomb and take one for the team, I think this whole thread is set

Based on LSN:
~48% of those admitted last year were admitted after January 1st.
Of those ~48%, ~88% submitted their application before January 1st.

The first 6-7 random profiles I came across that were part of this ~88% that displayed when their JS1/2 dates were, all had JS1 dates after January 1st.

In most cases, well after January 1st.

So if they admit half after January 1 (~400), and they've admitted 200 so far, does this mean they're admitting 200 more people before January 1?

Today I plotted out my emotional swings over the course of this process and it looked something like this (but without all that pesky text):

I don't know how well facebook groups or LSN correlates to the actual %s of applicants so maybe.

If we just recently went complete we're assuming no possibility for JS1s before the new year, correct? Sounds like the calendar isn't showing a lot.

I remember when fee waivers made me smile. Those times have passed. I don't smile anymore.

HLS 1L here (currently procrastinating after my contracts final this morning). I volunteered to be a student contact for admitted students and the admissions office sent us an email about a week ago informing us that they have already admitted "over 100 students" thus far. I have no idea if that helps or not, but figured I'd pass along the information. Best of luck, everybody and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Harvard admitted about 840 people last cycle, according to the ABA. That means we could be only an eighth through H's acceptances, even though we're three months into the cycle. (Even if Harvard decides to create a smaller class, we're probably at most 1/6th of the way through.)

Ha - I should clarify that that's all the relevant information I have about the application process this cycle. They didn't tell us anything else about what they are doing or have done other than what I quoted from that one email and I haven't spoken with anybody in the admissions office on a personal level. So I can't really proffer any additional insight on that front.

I'm merely offering my help if you have any questions: 1) about life at HLS in general (and as a 1L going through finals, you can get extra snark at the moment) and 2) about the application process both at HLS and in general as someone who basically lived on TLS last year.

Best of luck, everybody.

Appreciate the info. Thanks.

That 100+ came after the initial invites in November so it definitely helps give some perspective.

Keep coming back to the same conclusion, all we can do is wait.

after this week, i will feel better whatever happens. js2 would obviously be awesome, but failing that, the probability goes way down (i think) and i can just put this away psychologically as a live option. that would be okay too, there's other good stuff on the table. good luck all, hopefully we will hear back soon.

Yeah, I'm just not thinking about it anymore. I got into the closest thing I have to a dream school yesterday, so anything else that comes my way is seriously just gravy.

Time to relaxxxxxxxx and enjoy the holidays!

I got an email from Harvard this morning while waiting in the airport security line. My heart dropped. Then I read it: just telling me my application was complete, which I knew days ago from the status checker. Ahhhhhh!!!!
