A friend of mine that was accepted DID send a thank you following her JS1.

I think that it might also be an opportunity to include something you didn't mention in the interview, if you really want to get it in, but don't want to blow your LOCI load just yet.

I guess the way I feel about it is... You obviously want to go, that's why you applied. Sending a thank you will probably just get read by some office staff, which they may not even attach to your file.. And it has just "wasted" their time.

On the other hand, if it does get attached to your file, or read by a decision maker (ie JS), then bringing your name up again may remind them "oh yeah," and could be positive.

But overall, I think it has no effect.

Thanks for the input so far.

I'm the type who always sends thank you cards. :D And I did send them after my other interviews and meetings with admissions people. Those were all in-person though, and I was wondering what your thoughts were given that HLS conducts interviews via Skype.

I'm not hoping for a boost from it. I was just wondering if there was a taboo against it (I know of other job interviews where people have been expressly told not to send them).

I think you should, and I don't even think it's questionable.

Thanks.

Getting all of my ducks in a row before the JS/KB1. Can you find out who you have before the interview?

I did. Lots of people on here did. It won't hurt you, so if it feels right, do it

I don't think there will be another "round".. 5-10 helds might get interviews over the next 2 weeks and then its off the waitlist

Who else out there still hasn't heard anything? (I'm a January complete)

Is not having heard anything better/worse/equal to being held at this point?

Do holds even go out at this point or should I just expect a decision soon?

They still seem to be up for holding people. Slightly better in my view but a hold seems to be the most likely outcome.

Are we expecting any ***MORE*** (good) news this week, or is anything they send out going to be a WL/hold/ding?

Speculation welcome.

EDIT: (Sorry, didn't mean to down-play the significance of Monday's JS2s or other movement so far.)

d330 was my limbo buddy.

I am still in limbo, but I feel like an honorary held member.

Not to state the obvious, but as long as Harvard is still holding people, there is a difference between being held and not being held. If people were basically just defacto held they would stop actually holding people.

Not sure if this is directed at me, but I am well aware of that fact. My statement is not meant to be taken literally. Post JS1 for almost 50 days now. Nevertheless, I still feel solidarity with the held faction.

I know what you mean, because they have been in fact holding your application. However, not being officially held means that you are in a better position than the rest of us held kids, currently. :)

Wert's point is also right.
