Then again, I might just apply for the heck of it. With falling medians, who knows what happens?

I briefly mentioned a concurrent application to a non-law program (think Peace Corps, TFA) and I'm starting to stress out because I'm thinking it will hurt my chances since they know I'm likely to defer an acceptance. I really don't want to reapply in two years :/ Do y'all think this will be a huge issue? My numbers are pretty good and I'm hoping that this doesn't screw me over.

You've probably read this, but here's their deferral policy:roflmaozedong wrote:I briefly mentioned a concurrent application to a non-law program (think Peace Corps, TFA) and I'm starting to stress out because I'm thinking it will hurt my chances since they know I'm likely to defer an acceptance. Based on that, I would say it probably won't be a big deal. Any potential cons should be offset by the fact that they like applicants with those types of experiences. We believe that prospective students benefit from experiences outside of a college or university setting and thus encourage you to take time off before going to law school. You may want to take time off before applying because your experience during that time off may inform your decision to attend graduate school; also, you may be able to put together a more complete application because you have had additional opportunities to write about (and from which to obtain recommendations). You may want to apply and then defer after you are accepted. That is okay, too. We rarely turn down a request for a deferral if it is made in a timely manner and if the prospective student explains why they are taking time off. Generally we grant one-year deferrals, but we also grant two-year deferrals for certain types of activities (e.g., Teach For America, Peace Corps, 2-year analyst programs at banks and consulting firms, etc.). We also grant extensions to deferrals when necessary.

Mine too, received about a week after yours Yarsten. No email confirmation but I guess that's normal for HLS.yarsten wrote:Ditto.RSterling wrote:Application went complete today. App was received 9/18
Hopefully this means we'll be in the first round of decisions. Yes or no it would be great knowing HLS early to get that off my back.

I don't want to be THAT kid that rushes things and gets ahead of himself (really I don't), BUT at what point do we start speculating about when interview invites will occur? I know last year they were in full speculation mode at this point, but that's because the previous year saw interviews in October. Sounds like this year will model last year in terms of timeline.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
You sorta answered your own question. I'm thinking we'll see them in a couple weeks. For someone with my numbers (169/4.0), I think I may be in it for the long haul, so I'm not expecting to be in the first round of interviews, if at all.spicyyoda17 wrote:I don't want to be THAT kid that rushes things and gets ahead of himself (really I don't), BUT at what point do we start speculating about when interview invites will occur? Also complete. I wonder if they'll be sending a "complete" e-mail like in the past or if the status will just stealthily go under review.
Nice try.Texasxxxes wrote:Just received an email about this interview with the dean of admissions at HLS - HOORAY SPAM TO DELETE

Just went complete too. As to interview email speculation, I bet that we won't see anything until the first week of November.

Just went complete as well. Submitted on 09/16. Not expecting to be in the first round of interviews either (169/4.14). If I get in it will probably be late in the cycle, but I guess it doesn't hurt to hope for an early answer.

Just to confirm: Everyone who gets in must do a phone interview at some point?! I am great at real interviews but am absolutely horrible at phone interviews.

Yep, everyone that gets in has to do a phone interview. But don't worry, from what I've heard they usually have their mind made up before the interview, so just be prepared to answer questions intelligently and you'll do fineJedBartlett wrote:Just to confirm: Everyone who gets in must do a phone interview at some point?! Very nice. If I get a phone interview I'll prepare for it like my life depends on it (because, in a sense, it does).Kionaltski wrote:Yep, everyone that gets in has to do a phone interview. On LSN it looks like the first round of completes was a first days after ours last year (October 13), and the KB1 invites went out November 3. So we can all chill for a while
ETA: complete email earlier this morning.

New blog post: http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/admissions ... 0/waiting/. Looks like there's no 'Under Review' status this year.
Also, just got the 'application complete' email.

Damn. Looks like I have to buy a suit for a skype interview (I hope I end up needing one, anyway! )

+1 The longer interview will be a little anxiety-inducing. But, since I don't have a webcam at work, in the .01% chance that I get an interview, maybe I could still do it over the phone...WhiteyCakes wrote:Yikes...this makes me nervous.VasaVasori wrote:Good find - they posted another, today, too. I'm going to guess that wearing a suit and tie may be a little overboard unless that is what you are wearing already b/c of being at work.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
