I had a dream I was wait listed. I woke up, still in the halo of in-dream certainty, checked my email and realized I've only just begun to suffer.
The saddest part is that I'm not even dreaming of being accepted. That how little a chance my subconscious thinks I have.

Hey I've been out of this thread forever but I just wanted to say congrats to all the new accepts, especially the regulars! Reading the acceptance letter with "Harvard Law School" letterhead was one of the most bizarre and awesome moments of my life.

Hey guys so I was wondering if you could help me set some expectations. I had my KB1 on 2/22 but lets just say there is reason to believe it did not go so well. I could be making a big deal about nothing but I've definitely accepted the fact that it wasn't my best interview. I missed the big day of JS2s on Friday which was mostly people who had been waiting a while but I noticed there were a few people who got in who had KB1s the same week as me so it was a little disappointing. Should I view every Friday that comes and goes without a hold/ding email as a small victory? What is the best means for post JS1 sanity?

I was in the same situation after my JS1. I know it's really discouraging now, but there's no reason to panic yet. Getting away from TLS for a little bit helped. The JS1->JS2 wait seems to be getting longer and longer, which really sucks, but there isn't much to do about it besides try to relax.amonthofsundays wrote:Hey guys so I was wondering if you could help me set some expectations. Try not to think about it? This goes for everyone who has asked when to expect XYZ questions so far:amonthofsundays wrote:Hey guys so I was wondering if you could help me set some expectations. Harvard has been more and more off their own pattern lately. Anyone who ventures a guess is just that, guessing. My guess is that there will be some JS1s later this week for interviews next week. My guess is a fair amount of hold/dings Friday. My guess is a few amount of holds see some movement soon. My guess is no JS2s this week.
So basically none of this will happen.

Also FWIW at least one person in your JS1 wave has been held and one dinged so they didn't hate you so much as to get rid of you already.amonthofsundays wrote:Hey guys so I was wondering if you could help me set some expectations. Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Just finished my interview.
The internet connection was misbehaving, and we tried multiple times to get in touch with one another. In the end, we resorted to conducting the interview via phone. I think the total time we spent talking was less than 10 minutes, and I tried to keep my responses short, because time was definitely working against me at that point. I really hope I did enough
I spent all of yesterday making sure the internet connection was going to be perfect and stable... and this happens
Praying for good results

I had my KB1 on the same day as you, and I happen to think it was one of my personal bests. I was mildly horrified when I wasn't part of last week's wave, but then I realized I was being completely ridiculous since it had barely been a week. I asked KB in the interview about the next stage of the process, and she said since a bunch of people had to look over everyone's application it was completely unpredictable when we would be hearing backamonthofsundays wrote:Hey guys so I was wondering if you could help me set some expectations. Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
There was a JS2 wave that included those with JS1s on the day before and day after me, and that just caused me to freak out. And then there were the JS2 calls where it was for my same JS1 date and then it moved onto those with later JS1 dates. The point being that there is no discernible rhyme or reason to the timeline, as far as I can tell. I would view every Friday without a hold/ding as a small victory. In retrospect, I really wish I had just forgotten about it completely. Too much stress, man, too much stress.amonthofsundays wrote:Hey guys so I was wondering if you could help me set some expectations. Yeah, but everyone knew that your acceptance was a foregone conclusion (ahem, YLS).carboncopyx wrote:There was a JS2 wave that included those with JS1s on the day before and day after me, and that just caused me to freak out. But honestly, she is correct. I wouldn't worry too much. KB has a very different process than JS, and we have too small of a sample size from which to draw and super meaningful conclusions. Given that other KB1s from your week got in, they might have been the ones that KB was like, "definitely getting in," whereas you could be in the "probably getting in, but since I am KB and I like seeing applicants in groups of 50, I'm going to wait for some more to compare with."

I think as long as you conducted yourself in a professional manner, technical difficulties won't really be held against you. It might even secretly help, since they get to see how you react to "adversity".TrustInMusic wrote:Just finished my interview.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Is it a nono to submit any type of new material that isn't a resume/award type of update? I never submitted a diversity statement with my original app and now that i'm sitting as a forgotten i'm contemplating the idea of sending additional material (and I do have something to speak about in it). My GPA sucks (for Harvard, 3.6x) so i'm borderline autoding but have missed out on all dings, holds, JS1s so far. complete 1/7. I'm not too optimistic about my chances so if new material isn't highly discouraged I was thinking of going for it?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
