Mid January.

Ah, if it isn't the delusion killer again.

Couldn't you let us have our fantasy that they were up to people who submitted in January?

And so henceforth and forevermore, ph shall be known as little miss raincloud. It has been spoken.

Can I be righteously annoyed that I submitted mid Jan and still haven't heard back yet? Or is that premature? Because I'm watching all of the $$ excitement and has a sad. Why am I left behind, Cornell? :(

Ahahahaha I'm sorry! In actuality, I submitted my Need Access/FAFSA in January, and other documents on 2/13, they just had to wait for my parents returns on 2/27. I'm sure they go by when they got Need Access.

I embrace it. If you guys are going to survive in Ithaca, you best get used to precipitation.

If I'm UR2, should I mention to Cornell that I'm retaking? My thinking is that at worst, they'll waitlist me that way.

I was complete on Fin Aid materials on 1/8 and heard back this morning, so I wouldn't worry about order, it doesn't seem like they are doing it that way.

I'm assuming everyone is now waiting to hear back in regards to financial aid, or are scholarships still being doled out? Usually scholarship offers are made when you receive your acceptance letter. If indeed everyone is waiting for financial aid, usually financial aid is assigned on a needs basis. By this I mean, right now the most needy and least needy (at least in the eyes of Cornell Law) have heard back. For example, when you fill out your financial aid information you are requested to include you parents income and tax reports. Accordingly, most of the people who have heard back have either received 105K (which I believe is the most you'll get) and a small amount such as 45k.

Cornell and many law schools do this to gain a sense of their incoming class, the people they want desperately and / or are needy are offered a huge sum 105K, whereas people who are less needy but they still want are given 45k or in that range. This screens out candidates and allows the school to gain a better sense of individuals who will attend by the deposit deadline.

For the people who haven't heard back yet, based on the preceding events and who elects to come or who opts to leave their offers on the table, financial aid may be redistributed.

All of the above is of course largely based on your parent's income and financial status

Usually scholarship offers are made when you receive your acceptance letter.

Uh, no. Plenty of acceptances have been made over the past four months, and merit schollies just started to be released yesterday (other than the big money, Dean's, which required an invite and separate app.)

Cornell and many law schools do this to gain a sense of their incoming class, the people they want desperately and are needy are offered a huge sum 105K, whereas people who are less needy but they still want are given 45k or in that range.

Where is the data to indicate that any of these awards are other than merit? The $105's had high numbers, above medians and perhaps even 75ths (at least on the few whose posts I searched.)

I am not substantially above either of Cornell's medians, my parents make six figures, and they gave me 105K. I was also admitted in December and got my scholarship offer yesterday. Methinks your theory is flawed.

The date quoted in that thread was 4/26, I believe.
