Have you thought about re-taking the LSAT? I have similar stats and I'm pretty optimistic (remember, with fewer LSAT takers and applicants this year, we might see some surprising admissions decisions if they want to keep up enrollment), but I decided to re-take in December because just another point or two could make all the difference, especially from the wait list.rakeshow wrote:submitted on monday (EA extended to nov 5th), still not complete though. i hope they still say i made it in time... :/
praying i get cornell. 167 puts me at median (hopefully, it fluctuates 167 or 168 each year)
gpa is 3.61 so thats probably slightly below median.
my chances are very slim...
I submitted my app on 11/5 too and it still isn't complete, but I think as long as it's submitted on the 5th it counts as EA. They don't penalize you for their verification process. Best of luck!!

i have a cancel, a 166, and a 167 (sigh...)
so i need to wait until february to retake. i am hoping to get into cornell and be done with my cycle,as i would be thrilled to go there.
if not... then i dont think i would settle for a t20 school, and i'd probably retake in June for the 4th time and then reapply next cycle.
youre actually optimistic? i thought my chances were close to 0, as i'm at their median LSAT in the best case, and definitely below median gpa, with nothing really significant about my app.

Why would you think you have 0 chance if you are at median? Just wondering, because to me that makes 0 sense. Are you an auto-admit? Probably not. A for sure ding? Definitely not, IMO..rakeshow wrote:sadly i cannot retake.ph5354a wrote:Have you thought about re-taking the LSAT? Re: Cornell c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
well 167 is median at best. they have usually been 168 median, but some years are 167 (including last year). if they are aiming for 168 median this year, im certainly dinged. i always assumed that someone at or below median in gpa or lsat is only accepted if they are at or above median in the other category. i bet cornell has a large amount of people to pick from that fulfills that criteria. so if i am, at best, at the lsat median, then my below median gpa would most likely result in a WL or ding. am i being too pessimistic? i hope so...

My status updated today; the previous update was on 10/11.
I guess we haven't seen any sort of pattern to the Cornell status checker.

Their median range is 166-169, which means that 25% of students have an LSAT below 166, which is why im trying to stay optimistic. Of course, those students probably have something else exceptional going for them, but I don't think being at or a point below their average whether its 167 or 168 means you have to make up for it with an exceptional gpa, unless your gpa was really really low. My perspective is: I have both numbers within the median range and close to their average with strong softs. With a little luck, and some help from a drop in applications this year, I should be able to get in, even if it is off if the WL. Also remember that while Cornell will get a lot of very qualified applicants, many of those will choose to go t5 or t10 instead, and they know that, so it's about yield management too.
If anyone thinks I'm being delusional, please tell me so I can adjust my expectations accordingly

Also, I'm planning a campus tour and class visit for when I go home at Thanksgiving. Yes, I'm originally from upstate NY. If there's anything anyone wants to know in particular about campus or classes, let me know so I can remember to report back. Also, if you guys have any questions about Ithaca in general (yes it gets cold), feel free to ask away.

Still sitting on a 11/6 update, anyone else have that?
If I snag a waitlist with my numbers I will be stoked. I have some pretty solid softs all I can do right now is hope they waitlist me and then I get dat Feb retake back and they want me so hard.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty jazzed. I'd pushed law school thoughts out of my head, not expecting movement for a while, and was extra shocked to find out while sitting in stopped traffic. Now I'll be one of those people whose heart leaps with every "ping" my phone makes.
I love the idea of Ithaca and really want to visit now.
