I just withdrew my offer from Georgetown. Hopefully my place goes to a TLS-er who really wants it.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
For anyone interested: I was able to negotiate a significant scholarship increase with GULC before my April 1 deadline. I'm not sure how it would work after the deadline, but it was a pretty quick turnaround nonetheless. And I didn't have a very competitive offer from a higher- or peer-ranked school, just another good school that I was interested in. Since G'Town is my first choice, I made it clear in my email that I was willing to withdraw other applications and deposit at G'Town were my scholarship to be increased to (at least) $XX. For anyone still thinking of trying to bargain for more money, I say go for it; it might actually work out and you don't really have anything to lose. Just make sure the timing is appropriate.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
As a longtime "lurker" on this particular forum, I'm surprised (perhaps I shouldn't be?) by the relative quietude today in light of the April 1 deadline. Perhaps May 1 will precipitate more of a deluge.
Regardless, I was placed on the regular waitlist, and given that Georgetown is very much my first choice, the suspense is gnawing at me. I suppose Georgetown draws on the regular waitlist in late April/early May, meaning that we waitlist-ers have a few weeks until we have a better idea. Feel free to correct me if this is wrong.
Good luck to all!

I would expect to hear exactly nothing from GULC today. Today is their deadline. They won't know how many people missed the deadline until tomorrow.lawschoolhopeful16 wrote:As a longtime "lurker" on this particular forum, I'm surprised (perhaps I shouldn't be?) by the relative quietude today in light of the April 1 deadline. So info I was given today on April 1 scholly deadline. Dean was not in the office. They obviously will note if you accepted or declined their award and place you accordingly. If you asked for an extension, its on a case-by-case basis, and you run the risk of not receiving it and scholarship "asploding" (exactly what it will do) before you can take action on it tomorrow.

Dek88: The interview is, according to many reports, largely an opportunity for Dean Cornblatt to market Georgetown Law to applicants. In the typical session, Cornblatt asks those present to simulate the role of an Admissions Committee, and each person has the elective opportunity to comment. Evidently Cornblatt maintains some sort of record of whom says what, but I doubt the group interview has much bearing on the admissions determination. That said, participating in the interview can only improve your admissions prospects--assuming you're reasonably articulate and incisive.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I did a group interview, the Dean was really great about giving everyone an opportunity to talk, and the other applicants were all very nice. I wouldn't say it is just an opportunity to market GU to applicants; to me at least it seemed like they were genuinely interested in getting to know the applicants. If you were offered an interview, definitely accept.lawschoolhopeful16 wrote:Dek88: The interview is, according to many reports, largely an opportunity for Dean Cornblatt to market Georgetown Law to applicants. Quick, but weird question. If I'm waitlisted as full-time, can I request to be considered part-time? (A potential job opportunity popped up out of nowhere in DC).

Is anyone going to the admitted students reception in Chicago on April 8th? Or has anyone gone to any of the other off site admitted students receptions? I'm curious as to what they entail.

Free booze, fancy clothes, awkward small talk, pitch from the Dean about why Georgetown is the only "truly national school" in the country aside from Harvard, other 0Ls starting the gunning early, and the Dean asking alums for donations.smmurphy6 wrote:Is anyone going to the admitted students reception in Chicago on April 8th?
