Just got an e-mail stating my Financial Aid Award is finalized. I can't access my account from work though (the intricate passwords are on my home computer). Does anyone know that if I receive this then I did NOT receive the PILS?

Second status update post completion today. 2/20 to 3/14. I'm ED so I'm hoping for a decision soon.

Got it too. Its a tentative federal award package based on your FAFSA and stuff. It just lists how much you can expect in government loans and nothing else. I was told they haven't started looking over financial aid for grants and stuff yet

I called the Admissions office today and the girl said the scholarship committee is supposed to be sending out more information tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Does this mean that our "financial aid award" doesn't include any merit based aid? My package shows $3k in a "grant" and then loans. Is that all of the need and merit aid I would be awarded? If so, it's a harsh blow. I went to gtown for undergrad and was pretty psyched on it but that is hard amount of debt to stomach with other options.

Just did some research (probably should have done this before I posted my above post). I think everything in myaccess is strictly need based. The Dean's grant I had is need-based. Per what others have posted, I assume merit based aid is still going to come out via the scholarship committee by around 3/20 if you already got selected as a finalist.

Here's the page on dean's grants: http://www.law.georgetown.edu/admission ... stance.cfm

Perfect. Thanks. Apparently I'm just as poor as I think I am.

Congrats! That is awesome. Although now I'm starting to doubt that this really is just need based. Were your grants from different sources/something other than a dean's tuition grant?

Dean's tuition grant all the way. I come from a single parent home where my mother is unemployed although I have a solid job...

Ah well, I'm done speculating about this. I'll just wait until 3/20 and if I get no further word then I'll assume that's it, lol. Although if someone is motivated enough to call the finaid office, I'd be happy to hear any clarification they provide.

And congrats again!

I think I'll call the financial aid office tomorrow and confirm I am still being considered for PILS before I start seriously contemplating.

Wow, now I'm worried. I was completely depending on financial aid grants to even consider going to Georgetown whether or not i get a scholarship. I'm going to call financial aid tomorrow and find out for sure

I think it's important to check. All of my award letters this cycle have been either need based aid or merit based aid, not both (with the exception of loans of course).

My award says "Dean's Tuition Grant 1st Yr": 20k

Does that mean I'm only getting that amount for the first year? or is that just the label?

Also received a Dean's Grant. However, GULC still hasn't told me whether or not I'm a finalist for merit aid. I would definitely need more $$$ to attend. Should I contact them now or later on this?

I'd contact them now. I can't see that putting it off would help

Did anyone go to the NYC reception yesterday? I RSVPed but couldn't make it. I would love to hear your impressions/thoughts/whatever.

I just found out that Georgetown doesn't offer tours or allow class sit-ins to applicants in Feb/March. Do most schools have similar policies?

Just spoke to the financial aid office--merit aid and need based aid are not "stackable" with the exception of the PILS.

Meaning, if you had say a 50,000 grant and received a 25,000 merit scholarship, your grant award would reduce by 25,000 netting you the same outcome.

but if you got PILS that would be on top of your merit or need? (in might case, just merit $). wow, I wasn't expecting that.
Did they give you any indication when PILS decisions will be released?
