Should I send an email asking if I can interview? Is that something people do? Been complete and UR for about 2 weeks, moved to UR2 but no interview invite.

I went to one of the info sessions on campus and they were pretty clear that you cannot request an interview. It is by selection only, I'm afraid.LRGhost wrote:Should I send an email asking if I can interview? Is that something people do? Can you guys, and all others who got interviews, specify if your interview is/was a personal interview or a group interview?elderpisimo wrote:168 3.06 URM and interviewed

Dang, looks like the interviews aren't producing great decision results.

Mine was an alumni interview. Drove four hours both ways to the meeting, only for him to spend most of it telling me that my UG coursework hadn't prepared me for the RIGOR of Georgetown. Lol. Turned me off to GULC pretty hard, so I was neither surprised (I seriously doubt he wrote nice things) nor bothered (in at UVA) by the WL.evoluna wrote:Can you guys, and all others who got interviews, specify if your interview is/was a personal interview or a group interview?North wrote:Preferred WL via e-mail, 3.35/173. Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I am sorry to hear that you had that experience.
I have seen a lot of questions about interview experiences here and thought I would share mine. I had mine back in October with an alumnus and I was accepted shortly thereafter.
I drove 6 hours for mine, there were no interviewers in my home state so I offered to travel because I truly do believe that in-person makes a stronger impression. We met at a Starbucks and he purchased our coffees. We made some small talk about how his work day was going and what type of legal work he did. He then pulled out my resume which he had marked up extensively and asked a variety of questions about the experiences I had listed there. He also noted how many of my activity dates overlapped and asked about my ability to prioritize and multitask. He then asked me if I could candidly share where Georgetown was in my preferences for schools to attend and asked if there was any information he could share with me that may help me in my decision making. I had prepared a few questions ahead of time which he was very thorough and candid in answering as he had graduated within the past five years. The interview lasted over an hour and was very casual. When he walked me out he said to contact him once I was accepted to help negotiate a higher aid package and for an objective opinion on my competing offers. He has since followed-up by email. I really enjoyed the experience and it helped me to feel confident that Georgetown will provide many of opportunities I am looking for.

Jonathk1 wrote:Wow. Sorry to hear that -- that is a major turn off and you should honestly email GULC admission about this matter regardless of the admission decision. In no way do you need an alumni interviewer telling you that you are not "ready" for the rigor of law school coursework -- slightly inappropriate and unprofessional as well.North wrote:Mine was an alumni interview. That's a great experience, especially since you drove 6 hours for it!
But in regards to what you just wrote -- "When he walked me out he said to contact him once I was accepted .." -- are you implying that he already knew that you would be accepted even prior to the report he sent to GULC? Or do you mean he meant to contact him when you received a decision?

I don't think I was accepted prior to the interview because I was a borderline candidate. I think it was his way of alluding to a strong recommendation on his behalf that they accept me.Jonathk1 wrote:That's a great experience, especially since you drove 6 hours for it!

That's interesting. At least we know that the interview report has some strong significance.Rory19 wrote:I don't think I was accepted prior to the interview because I was a borderline candidate. Still haven't been contacted by my interviewer yet. Will be a full week tomorrow since the invitation. Worried that slots are being filled.

Sorry if this has been covered already, but I don't have time to read through the entire thread... I was just wondering if anyone who has been admitted has received scholarship offers yet? Or if anyone has any idea of how the timing on this works? Thanks.

+1 same question. I scanned the admitted students webpage thoroughly to no avail. Just received another Georgetown package in the mail on Friday thinking it might be scholarship information... alas another series of pretty stationary. Anyone know about aid timing?salad456 wrote:Sorry if this has been covered already, but I don't have time to read through the entire thread... From what I have read of prior threads there is an e-mail that goes out in March perhaps that invites certain admits to apply for scholarships. I have yet to receive anything about scholarships...jbagelboy wrote:+1 same question. I scanned the admitted students webpage thoroughly to no avail. Hey guys,
If there are any DC locals currently applying and looking to network, feel free to pm me.
I moved here recently for work, and I'm going through the application process with GT and GW.
It would be nice to chat about the application process, aspirations, work, etc. with someone going through the same experiences.
