I got in with a 3.1
Maybe you should think about sending in an app. Although I don't know whether they accepted me because of something the specifically liked in my personal statement/resume/LORs. On LSN there aren't very many admits around my little green triangle.
But in my opinion, it wouldn't hurt to send in an app if you really want to go to GULC!

Well, I got my third update today on the status checker. It still says "application completed" and I have yet to receive any bad news from them...does this mean I should keep my eyes peeled for a letter??

Longtime reader - first time poster. Any consensus on the method Gtown uses for notification? I know that acceptances are via snail mail.. but what about holds/Wl and dings? Thanks!

Is there a compilation somewhere on the site for all the methods schools use to notify applicants? I feel like that would be really helpful. Ill make it if someone wants. I don't know how schools are contacting me (for the most part)- it would be handy to know to look for snail mail, emails, status checker, or phone calls (especially because I'm fond of not picking up if I don't know the number or it's blocked).

Held is just sort of like an early-waitlist, or expedited waitlist. They basically table your application and look at it later. Different schools do it differently, but GULC releases their final decision on hold applications before March..but it's completely possible to go from a Hold to a Waitlist. Since the waitlist would be the "official" decision. Hold is essentially just application purgatory.

It seems sort of silly to "hold" applications since all it really means is they're going to take more time to review your app after they get a better sense of the applicant pool, which some schools presumably do without even calling it such. But I'd still take it over waitlist, and I guess it's kind of nice that they tell you something rather than just not getting back to you for months and months.

I am sorry, guess it did not work out in the end, that is why you are here.
I initially thought held is better than WL, because the email people posted here saying " Please be aware that only a small number of early applicants have had their applications held, and a number of those applicants in past years have subsequently been admitted. "
Thanks for the clarification.

I guess I had been thinking wrong. I thought Dings were also email. Good to know. Thanks!

It probably is still technically better (I don't have stats to back this up)...just can lead to the same outcome.

In terms of percentage of Holds that are given an offer as opposed to WLs, I'd be willing to bet the numbers are on the Holds' side.
Dat wishful thinking...
