Y'all need to calm down. I didn't think it was funny I was wait-listed because I think I'm better than GULC. I thought it was funny because I totally called it, as they straight rejected me for UG and I ended up at HYP. Clearly, they just don't find me and my background very compelling, which is obviously their prerogative.. but it was funny to me because a) i saw this coming and b) it's my first WL in what has otherwise been a miraculous cycle and it was really only a matter of time til I got one.venus wrote:That.moneyball026 wrote: Nah, it's a big pet peeve of mine when people act like they're better than a certain school, no matter how high or low it is ranked. First time posting in the Georgetown thread, but I was another recipient of a "preferred" WL email yesterday. I think I will be withdrawing... Good luck everyone else!

I took it as he/she saying they thought it was funny because they were above it all and then the whole "they rejected me but I got into HYP" thing just confirmed my suspicions.
But yeah, if you weren't going to go anyway then withdrawing is obviously the right thing to do.
So, did everyone who got the "name your price" email also get a follow up confirmation that they would be notified by the 15th? I only saw like two people report that they had.

I was asked if I wanted an alumni interview a month ago (and said yes the same day) and have heard nothing since. I know it says it may take a few weeks but I'm going on week 5 now with no contact, is this standard or is it as unusually long as it feels?

Call GULC tomorrow. I think they forward your information to an interviewer who is supposed to get in touch with you.

So I received my 3rd update on 2/8, but I haven't heard anything yet. My #s put me right in the middle of waitlist territory - did other waitlisters hear back right away after their final update or is this wait the norm? Trying to decide if I should get my hopes up or not.... Thanks!

I got my 3rd or 4th update yesterday. I interviewed a little over a week ago. AA Male, 165, 3.7
Hopefully the recent updates don't mean we're waitlisted
fingers crossed for us both!

A couple of people have reported decisions, but I'm sure the vast majority of us will be waiting for a couple more weeks for any change. Historically it hasn't been a sunny outlook for those of us in GULC held/deferred purgatory, but who knows, maybe the down app cycle will work in our favor this year.

I also applied ED and went complete on the 1st. My status date changed today, so perhaps you've experienced movement today as well?2013 wrote:Hi. Checking in. I applied ED (and went complete on 2/1), but there has been no change since then. Should I still be expecting a letter within the next 11 days?

I got a new date for application complete (2/11). Anyone else have this? Does GULC send out rejections through snail mail or just acceptances?

Same here. If you are able to generate a username/password through the accepted students website does that mean you are definitely in?bergdd wrote:I got a new date for application complete (2/11). Anyone else have this? Does GULC send out rejections through snail mail or just acceptances?

The fact that the username/password they sent me didn't work makes me think that all applicants can generate them, but they only become valid once you're admitted. who knows, i guess we'll find out soon...fingers crossed!RTARM2008 wrote:Same here! Do you guys know if GULC sends rejections via email or snail mail? I hear a lot of people saying they get small envelopes with acceptances. I am just hoping that they send out the rejections via email because since my status changed yesterday I would gotten it by now. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!

My login credentials became valid about 4 days after I was admitted and I think many others have had the same experience. If you're not able to log in just yet, that doesn't necessarily mean you're not in. Best of luck to y'all as you wait.GW1010 wrote:Same here! Just got an email that I'm a "finalist" (they put it in quotes too, for some reason) for merit aid. Have to write a short essay, which I will gladly do tonight, and they will be in touch again by 3/1. Anyone else get it?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
